Fontainebleau Miami Beach car service: Toronto to the Beach in one booking

Toronto to Miami is about three hours in the air, which is why so many Canadians treat it as a winter weekend rather than a trip. The ground at the other end is where the time goes. Enroutz.ca books a Fontainebleau Miami Beach car service from Miami International (MIA), Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood (FLL), PortMiami, Port Everglades and private aviation terminals. A US-licensed, vetted and commercially insured partner chauffeur drives the car, because trips inside the United States must be delivered by US-licensed operators. The Enroutz.ca desk in Toronto books it, confirms it and invoices it, with one point of contact around the clock.

The hotel is on Collins Avenue, in the part of Miami Beach known as Mid-Beach, which Miami's official tourism site describes as a district of five-star hotels, acclaimed dining and shopping. The hotel's own website is the place to confirm your reservation and arrival details.

How far is the Fontainebleau from Miami International Airport?

A creatively blurred portrait of a man with Los Angeles city skyline in the backdrop, showcasing urban life
A creatively blurred portrait of a man with Los Angeles city skyline in the backdrop, showcasing urban life

About 20 km (12 miles), normally 25 to 45 minutes by car via the Julia Tuttle or MacArthur causeway. From Fort Lauderdale it is about 45 km (28 miles) and 40 to 70 minutes. The booker shows the exact all-in fare for your vehicle before you confirm.

Miami Beach is an island, and every road onto it crosses water. That means one accident on a causeway can add half an hour. Your driver watches the live traffic and chooses between the northern and southern crossings on the day.

What Miami International says about taxis, apps and rail

MIA's own site is the best source for the current rules. On its taxi and ride app page, the airport says taxicabs are located on the arrivals (ground) level outside baggage claim, and that ride apps pick up on the first level (arrivals) and the second level (departures), with the app showing the designated location and door number. It states that taxis use metered fares, with a $15 minimum for trips starting at MIA and a $2.00 airport origination fee, as of 2026. See the MIA taxi and ride app page.

For public transport, the airport's page says Metrorail's Orange Line serves the airport station, with trains every 30 minutes on weekdays and every 15 on weekends, and a fare of $2.25 each way, as of 2026. It also lists the 150 Miami Beach Airport Express bus, which the page says runs every 30 minutes from 6 a.m. to 11:40 p.m. between the airport Metrorail station and Miami Beach, from 41st Street to South Pointe Drive. Read the details on the MIA public transportation page. The airport's home page, miami-airport.com, also carries service notices, including at the time of writing a note that Metrorail riders must transfer at Earlington Heights to reach MIA.

The bus is the lowest-cost route and works if you travel light and the hotel is close to the route, but it adds time and transfers. The airport rank is simple, and for a couple with two bags and no hurry, it is a sensible choice. A private chauffeur is for the traveller who lands tired, who has a family with a lot of luggage and car seats, who is arriving late at night or who needs the fare settled before leaving Toronto.

Flights from Toronto, preclearance and waiting time

Flights from Toronto to Florida clear US Customs and Border Protection at Pearson before departure, which means you land in Miami as a domestic arrival in practice. Because the free-waiting allowance differs between international and domestic arrivals (60 minutes and 30 minutes after landing respectively), mention your departure airport and flight number when you book and the desk applies the right rule. Every airport pickup includes flight tracking, so a late or early landing changes nothing on your side.

If you would like a driver inside the arrivals hall with a name board, ask for the meet-and-greet add-on. An alias name can appear on the board for privacy. Without it, the driver meets you at the pickup point stated in your confirmation. Our Toronto airport transfer page covers the departure end of the trip, if you want the Pearson pickup booked in the same confirmation.

Collins Avenue and Mid-Beach: how the last kilometre works

Collins Avenue is the north-south spine of Miami Beach, and the traffic on it slows on Friday and Saturday evenings and whenever a large event is on in the area. A driver who knows the cross streets can avoid the worst of it by using Alton Road or the side streets near the hotel and approaching the entrance from the best direction. The entrance and valet arrangements are set by the hotel. Tell the hotel your arrival time and give your chauffeur the name on the reservation; the driver then follows the staff directions at the door.

Expect a short wait at the hotel entrance at peak check-in times in the afternoon. A first-class sedan is quick to unload, whereas a Luxury SUV loaded with six bags takes the bell team a minute longer, and the difference is worth planning around if you have a meeting after check-in.

Art Basel, big weekends and event traffic

Miami Beach is a destination for events, from the winter season to the art fairs. Art Basel Miami Beach is usually held in early December, and the roads around the Miami Beach Convention Center and the hotels along Collins Avenue slow down accordingly; see our Art Basel Miami Beach page for the arrangements. Large events and conventions may carry a different cancellation deadline, which is stated on the confirmation.

On busy weekends, book early and tell the desk the full group size. For delegations and wedding parties, an Executive Sprinter carries up to 12 passengers and 12 bags, and a mini-coach or coach (20 to 56 seats) is available on request.

Cruise passengers and port days

Miami is one of the busiest cruise ports in the world, and port days follow a pattern: ships arrive early in the morning and sail in the late afternoon. If you are joining a ship after a stay on the Beach, the drive to PortMiami is about 10 km (6 miles), usually 15 to 35 minutes, and the booker lets you set the pickup time to match your boarding window. For Port Everglades, allow longer. Our cruise pages for Miami and Port Everglades give the port-by-port detail.

Day hire, evenings and corporate travel

An hourly chauffeur stays with you through a day of meetings from Brickell to Wynwood, or an evening that moves between restaurants. A corporate chauffeur service account puts every transfer on one monthly invoice. For the whole city, see the Miami car service page and the USA hub. The hotels hub lists other properties, including the Bellagio in Las Vegas.

Chauffeurs do not photograph clients or post about trips, and NDAs are signed on request. Local law applies to alcohol and we never promise drinks on board. Enroutz.ca is a chauffeur service, not a security company, with no armed drivers or bodyguards, and we work alongside a client's own security team.

Choosing the right vehicle

The Executive Sedan (Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Cadillac CT6 or Lyriq or similar) takes up to three passengers with two large and two cabin bags. The First Class Sedan (Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series or similar) offers the same capacity with more rear-seat room. The Luxury SUV (Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon Denali or similar) carries up to six passengers and five or six large bags, which suits a family with luggage and golf clubs. Maybach, Rolls-Royce, stretch limousine and armoured vehicles are available on request, with availability confirmed at booking.

Models are always "or similar", and the exact car is confirmed at booking. Wi-Fi, water and phone chargers are in most vehicles. Child, toddler and booster seats are available on request. See the fleet page.

Weather, hurricane season and flexibility

The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June to November, and afternoon thunderstorms can flood low streets on the Beach quickly in summer. Flight tracking and the 24/7 desk matter most on those days: if a storm delays your flight, the driver adjusts, and if your trip is cancelled, the cancellation terms below apply from the scheduled pickup time.

More than 72 hours' notice means no charge. At 72 hours or less the charge is 10%, at 48 hours or less 50%, and at 24 hours or less or a no-show 100%.

A worked example: a Friday-afternoon arrival from Toronto

Say you leave Pearson in the morning and touch down in Miami early in the afternoon. The hotel is about 20 km (12 miles) from the airport, so the drive alone is 25 to 45 minutes. On a Friday the Beach fills up from mid-afternoon, so plan around the upper end of that range and treat anything quicker as a bonus.

A few habits keep the first evening relaxed:

  • Put your flight number and the name on the hotel reservation in the booking. The driver then follows the flight, and the desk can move the pickup if you slip.
  • Count the bags before you book. Six large cases call for a Luxury SUV, and it is easier to say so in advance than at the kerb.
  • Schedule your first dinner at least two hours after landing, then move it earlier as soon as you are moving and the traffic looks kind.
  • Book the return with the arrival. On a departure day, ask for a pickup with more margin than feels necessary, because the same causeways carry you back to the airport.
  • If a cruise follows the hotel stay, give the desk your boarding window so the run to PortMiami, about 10 km (6 miles), is timed with margin to spare.
