Chauffeur service Barcelona: one desk for a city of many venues
Barcelona is compact on a map and awkward on the road. The airport is to the south-west, the Fira exhibition grounds are in two different places, the cruise terminals sit on a long quay south of the old town, and the best coastline begins 70 km north. A chauffeur service in Barcelona that works well starts with an accurate plan for which of those places you are heading to, and when.
Enroutz.ca arranges your Barcelona transfers from the Toronto desk. The ride is driven by a vetted, licensed and commercially insured local chauffeur partner, and the desk books, confirms and invoices it, so there is one booking, one invoice and one point of contact. We do not own vehicles or offices in Spain. In Spain the licensed category for pre-booked cars with a driver is VTC, and we use only registered operators.
How long does it take to get from Barcelona airport to the city?

Barcelona El Prat is about 14 km south-west of Plaça de Catalunya. By road it takes 20 to 40 minutes, longer in the weekday rush on the Ronda Litoral and at the peak of a congress week. The booker shows the exact fare for your address and vehicle before you confirm.
Barcelona–El Prat (BCN) has two terminals, T1 and T2. The airport operator Aena lists the underground line L9 Sud, the R2 Nord train, buses and car access on its Barcelona airport page, along with parking and vehicle-for-hire information. Your airline tells you the terminal, and we confirm the pickup point on your booking. See our Barcelona airport page for terminal-level detail.
Flight tracking applies to every airport pickup. International arrivals include 60 minutes' free waiting after landing, and 30 minutes for domestic flights. The name-board meet and greet is available as an add-on, with an alias on the board for privacy if you prefer. See our meet and greet service page.
The honest comparison for El Prat to the centre
Public transport here is decent, and sometimes better than a car.

| Option | Typical time | Cost note | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Metro L9 Sud, then a change | 40–60 minutes to most central hotels | Lowest | Solo travellers with light bags |
| R2 Nord train to Sants or Passeig de Gràcia | About 25–30 minutes | Low | Hotels near a mainline station |
| Aerobús airport coach | 35–45 minutes | Low | Travellers heading to Plaça de Catalunya |
| Official taxi | 20–40 minutes | Metered with airport supplements | Arrivals with no booking |
| Rideshare or VTC app | 20–40 minutes | Surge-priced | Short notice, app users |
| Rental car | 20–40 minutes, then parking | Highest overall | Only for trips beyond the city |
| Private chauffeur | 20–40 minutes | Fixed fare via booker | Groups, luggage, congress delegates, late arrivals |
The R2 Nord train is the efficient pick if your hotel sits near Sants or Passeig de Gràcia and you travel light; the coach is easy for Plaça de Catalunya. A chauffeur justifies itself when you arrive with colleagues, when the hotel is in the Eixample or the Gothic Quarter away from a station, or when you land late and want a named driver at the door.
MWC Barcelona and Fira Gran Via
MWC Barcelona is the mobile industry's flagship trade show and a fixture of the city's business calendar. The next edition is scheduled for 1 to 4 March 2027 at Fira Gran Via, according to the GSMA's MWC Barcelona site, and the venue is on Avenue Joan Carles I in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, just outside the city boundary. See our MWC Barcelona page for the show-specific plan.

Fira Gran Via lies about 7 km from Plaça de Catalunya and roughly 8 km from the airport. On an ordinary day that is 15 to 30 minutes from either. During MWC the surrounding roads, the metro and the taxi ranks are saturated at opening and closing times, and hotel check-outs, airport traffic and show shuttles all peak together. Delegations book a chauffeur because the car has a fixed pickup bay, the driver knows how to approach the venue's drop-off point, and your schedule does not depend on a taxi rank queue.
A few practical rules for congress week:
- Book the airport transfers and the hotel-to-venue legs together, so the same desk holds your whole itinerary.
- Allow extra time on the first and last day, when exits to the airport run slowest.
- Tell the desk if your group has a keynote or a fixed appointment, so the pickup time is built backward from it.
- Ask about a Sprinter for teams of up to 12 passengers, with luggage space for a full delegation.
Fira de Barcelona runs its other venues too, including Montjuïc on Avenue Reina María Cristina and the CCIB conference centre. Its event calendar lists the October 2026 programme, including UEG Week at Gran Via from 17 to 20 October and the Barcelona Boat Show at Port Vell from 14 to 18 October. Motor-racing fans will find the FIA WEC 6 Hours of Barcelona at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya from 16 to 18 October. For delegations, see trade show transportation and event transportation.
Barcelona cruise port transfers
Barcelona's cruise terminals lie on the quays south of the old town, along the harbour. The Port of Barcelona publishes cruise and passenger information on its official site. From the terminals to the Gothic Quarter or Plaça de Catalunya, the drive is roughly 5 km and takes 15 to 25 minutes, depending on the Moll de Barcelona approach and the number of ships in port. To the airport, allow 25 to 45 minutes.

A chauffeur is useful on turnaround day, when thousands of passengers leave and arrive at once and the taxi rank has a queue. We can meet you at the terminal, take you to the airport or hotel, and handle luggage. Embarkation day works the same way in reverse, with a pickup at your hotel timed to the terminal's check-in windows. See cruise ports: Barcelona for the terminal-level detail.
Hotels, the Eixample and the old town
Barcelona's hotels cluster around Passeig de Gràcia and the Eixample grid, the seafront at Barceloneta and the Port Olímpic, and the historic Gothic Quarter. The grid streets are easy for a car. The old town is not, because many lanes are pedestrian or have restricted access, and La Rambla is largely a walking street. The chauffeur drops you at the nearest legal point, and for a hotel inside a restricted street, the front desk can usually advise on the drop-off. Barcelona also has a low-emission zone covering the city and neighbouring municipalities within its ring roads. Vehicles no more than four years old are normally in the compliant categories, and we leave out charges and hours, which belong to the authorities.
For a visitor spending three days, an hourly booking works well for Gaudí sites, the Montjuïc hill and a dinner in Gràcia. Read about hourly chauffeur hire and private tours with driver.
A day of business meetings across Barcelona
Corporate visitors tend to spread across three districts. The Diagonal corridor around Plaça de Francesc Macià holds banks and consultancies, the 22@ technology quarter lies to the north-east along the sea, and Plaça de Catalunya anchors the commercial centre. The Diagonal is a wide avenue, but it is busy from 8 to 10 in the morning and again after 5 pm, and a lunch at the waterfront in Diagonal Mar adds a cross-town leg. For a day like this, hourly hire is typically better value of time than three separate transfers, because the car is waiting each time a meeting ends.
The driver confirms your schedule the evening before, sends the vehicle's details and keeps to the agreed waiting time of 15 minutes on non-airport pickups. If a meeting overruns, the desk can extend the booking. See corporate chauffeur service for accounts with monthly invoicing, and meetings, incentives and conferences for group programmes.
Early departures, late arrivals and family travel
El Prat's busiest hours are the early-morning departures to the rest of Europe and the late-evening arrivals from North America. For a 6 am flight, the pickup is typically scheduled around 3:30 to 4:00 in the morning, which is before most public services are running. For a late arrival, flight tracking means the car is there when you are, even if the aircraft runs an hour behind.
Families benefit from fixed pickup times and seat arrangements. Child, toddler and booster seats are available on request at booking, and a Luxury SUV carries up to six passengers with five or six large bags, which suits a family with a stroller and a week's luggage. Tell the desk the ages of the children at booking so the right seats are in the car when it arrives.
Costa Brava, Sitges and Montserrat
The most requested day trips from Barcelona are north to the Costa Brava, south to Sitges, and inland to Montserrat. Approximate road distances from the city are:
- Sitges, about 40 km (25 miles), 40 to 60 minutes.
- Montserrat, about 60 km (37 miles), 60 to 75 minutes.
- Tossa de Mar, about 100 km (62 miles), 1 hour 15 to 1 hour 45.
- Cadaqués, about 170 km (106 miles), around 2 hours 30 minutes, with a winding final stretch.
The Costa Brava is where a driver earns the most. Roads are narrow, car parks in small villages are full by midday in summer, and a day trip with a driver means you can stop where you like. Weddings and private events at coastal villas are also common. See wedding chauffeur and group transportation.
Barcelona and Madrid, one trip
Many itineraries link the two Spanish capitals. By road the distance is about 620 km (385 miles), a journey of around six hours, so most travellers take the high-speed train and use a chauffeur at both ends. See the Madrid chauffeur service and the Europe hub for onward legs, or ask the desk about city-to-city car service.
Canadian citizens do not need a visa for short stays in Spain, which is part of the Schengen area.
