Chauffeur service Bahrain: a short island, a long list of details
Bahrain is a small island kingdom, and that is its advantage. The airport sits about 7 km from the central business district, and most of the places visitors go are within a short drive. Where a chauffeur adds value is in the details: the right gate for a meeting, the right terminal door, the timing of the King Fahd Causeway, and a driver who knows how the roads behave when an event is on.
Bookings are taken at our Toronto desk. The driving is done by a vetted, licensed and commercially insured Bahraini partner. One confirmation, one invoice and one contact cover the trip, and the fare you see in the booker is the fare you pay. Enroutz.ca owns no cars or offices on the island, and we say it plainly.
What is the best way to get from Bahrain airport to Manama?

For most visitors, a pre-booked chauffeur. Bahrain International Airport on Muharraq island is about 7 km from central Manama, so the ride is short, usually 15 to 25 minutes. The fare is fixed and quoted before payment. Taxis run 24 hours a day; buses are the lowest-cost option.
The airport has a modern terminal that opened on 28 January 2021, with 24 departure gates, and Gulf Air, the national carrier, is its main hub. Taxis operate around the clock and Bahrain Public Transport Company runs buses. A chauffeur is worth booking when you arrive late, travel with a family, or have a meeting soon after landing; the fixed fare removes any haggling.
Check the official advice and entry rules
The Government of Canada's Bahrain travel advice, updated on 21 August 2026, advises Canadians to "Avoid non-essential travel to Bahrain" because of the volatile security situation in the region. Check it again the week you travel; advice of this kind is revised often.
On entry, the same page lists tourist, business and student visas as required. Canadians should get a visa from the nearest Bahraini government office before arriving, and tourists can also apply online through Bahrain eVisas. The Bahrain Tourism site's visa page says visitors from almost 70 countries can receive visas on arrival at the airport and that the eVisa is available to visitors from over 200 countries; it directs readers to official country lists to confirm eligibility. Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your planned departure. Rules differ by nationality, so check yours.
From the airport into Manama: distances and times
| Trip | Distance | Typical drive time |
|---|---|---|
| Airport to central Manama (CBD) | about 7 km | 15 to 25 minutes |
| Airport to Seef and the Diplomatic Area | check the booker | 20 to 35 minutes |
| Airport to Sakhir (Bahrain International Circuit) | check the booker | 30 to 50 minutes |
| Bahrain to Khobar via the King Fahd Causeway | causeway 25 km, plus approaches | border time varies |
Times assume normal conditions, and the exact fare appears in the booker once you enter the address. Add time at the evening rush and around major events.
Your options at a glance

| Option | Typical time to central Manama | Cost note | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Airport bus (Bahrain Public Transport Company) | 30 to 50 minutes with stops | Lowest | One bag, no schedule pressure |
| Airport taxi (24 hours) | 15 to 25 minutes | Metered | Spontaneous arrivals |
| App-based ride-hailing where available | 15 to 25 minutes plus wait | Surge-priced at peak | Confident app users with data |
| Rental car | 15 to 25 minutes plus desk | Daily rate plus fuel; international driving permit required | Self-drive stays |
| Hotel car | 15 to 25 minutes | Added to the bill | Convenience at one hotel |
| Pre-booked chauffeur via Enroutz.ca | 15 to 25 minutes | Fixed fare via booker | Night arrivals, families, executives, VIPs |
If you arrive in daylight with one bag, a taxi or the bus can be perfectly good. A chauffeur wins on arrival at night, with luggage, when a meeting is imminent, or when you want your driver to wait while you work. The Government of Canada notes that you must carry an international driving permit to drive in Bahrain and that the country has a zero-tolerance policy for drinking and driving.
Manama: districts that matter to a visitor
Manama's skyline is dominated by the Bahrain World Trade Center, a pair of towers. The Diplomatic Area in the northeast houses many financial institutions, Seef is the retail and hotel district, and Bahrain Bay is a newer waterfront development. The Bahrain National Museum and the old souq with Bab Al Bahrain sit at the cultural end of the city, and the souq has been revitalised in recent years.

For a day of meetings across the Diplomatic Area, Seef and the souq, an hourly chauffeur booking keeps one car and driver at your disposal, with waiting built in. Companies sending several staff can use corporate accounts with monthly invoicing, and conference organisers can read about meetings, incentives and conferences transport.
Muharraq island and how the airport connects
The airport is on Muharraq island, next to Manama, and roads link it with the capital by Airport Avenue and the Shaikh Isa Causeway. That geography explains why a short map distance can still take a little time at peak hours: the island's links to the main island carry a lot of the traffic, including commuters, airport staff and freight. A chauffeur who drives the route daily knows when to take which crossing, and the desk can ask the partner to leave early for a flight departure.
Half a day in the old city
Many visitors with a spare afternoon see the Bahrain National Museum, Bab Al Bahrain and the souq in a single loop. In central Manama these stops are typically 10 to 20 minutes apart by car, and the souq's lanes are narrow, so your chauffeur drops you at the nearest access point and collects you when you call. If you prefer to keep one car for the whole afternoon, an hourly booking makes the sequence flexible. Dress modestly in the souq, and ask before photographing people.
The King Fahd Causeway to Saudi Arabia
The King Fahd Causeway links Al Jasra in Bahrain with Khobar in Saudi Arabia. It is 25 km long, opened on 26 November 1986, and crosses a border station on Passport Island. A single "one-stop" post for passport control, vehicle clearance and customs was introduced on 6 March 2017.

Before you plan a crossing by car, check three things:
- Your visa. The Government of Canada warns that some Saudi visas only allow entry by air; if yours is air-only you cannot enter via the causeway. Check the terms of your visa before you travel.
- Your vehicle arrangement. Cross-border work needs the right permits for the car and the driver. The desk will tell you whether a single car can cross or whether a handover between two partners, one on each side, is the better plan.
- Your time. Border queues vary with the day, the hour and school and public holidays. Build slack into the day, and avoid scheduling a tight meeting right after a crossing.
For a Saudi Arabian onward journey, see our Riyadh page and the Jeddah page. Intercity distances inside Saudi Arabia are long, so most visitors fly between cities.
Sakhir and the Bahrain International Circuit
Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir opened on 17 March 2004 and holds around 70,000 spectators. It has hosted the Bahrain Grand Prix, Formula 1 testing, endurance racing and junior series. The official Formula 1 2026 calendar shows the 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix as run in Malaysia, 2 to 4 October, so there is no race in Sakhir this year. Check Formula 1 for the next one.
On race weekends, access roads, hotel rates and parking all tighten. Book your chauffeur well in advance, agree a drop-off point near your grandstand, and ask the desk about a pre-arranged return window after the final session. See our event transportation page and events hub for how we handle large venues.
Culture, dress and the law in Bahrain
Bahrain is more relaxed than some neighbours but still conservative. The Government of Canada's advice is to dress conservatively and behave discreetly: women should cover their arms and legs, and men should not wear shorts in public. Avoid public displays of affection, including hand-holding. Insulting or disrespecting officials can bring heavy fines.
Non-Muslims can buy alcohol at special stores, but attitudes toward alcohol are unfavourable, and excessive drinking while transiting a Bahraini airport could lead to detention and a fine. Drinks on board are never part of a booking. Get prior authorisation before photographing buildings or people, and note that importing or flying a drone requires prior authorisation.
Bahrain keeps a Friday and Saturday weekend. Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around 7 to 8 February, subject to the moon sighting, and the Government of Canada asks visitors to be discreet about drinking, eating and smoking in public between sunrise and sunset.
Flying from Toronto to Bahrain, and arriving in Toronto from Bahrain
If you are flying from Toronto to Bahrain, an Enroutz.ca vehicle takes you to Pearson and the Bahrain chauffeur is added to the same booking; see the Pearson page. If you are arriving in Toronto from Bahrain, the desk tracks your flight and the Toronto fleet waits at Pearson, with 60 minutes of free waiting after landing on international arrivals. If Toronto is new to you, start with the Toronto airport transfer guide and the travelling to Toronto page. The airport page is Bahrain BAH, and the regional overview is the Middle East hub.
An optional name board inside arrivals, with an alias on the board for privacy on request, is described on the meet and greet page.
Vehicles for a small island
Bahrain's short distances mean that comfort and arrival matter more than range. A pair of travellers will usually choose the Executive Sedan (Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Cadillac CT6 or Lyriq or similar) or the First Class Sedan (S-Class, BMW 7 Series or similar), both with room for three passengers, two large bags and two cabin bags. A family or a group heading to the circuit can take the Luxury SUV (Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon Denali or similar), which holds six people and five to six large bags. The Executive Sprinter carries up to twelve with twelve bags.
Larger groups can ask for a mini-coach or coach of 20 to 56 seats. Maybach, Rolls-Royce, stretch limousine and armoured vehicles are on request, with availability confirmed at booking. Classes are "or similar", with the model confirmed when you book. Partner vehicles are no more than four model years old, or seven for Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Maybach.
Most cars have Wi-Fi, water and chargers, and child seats can be requested at booking. Drivers do not take photographs or post about their passengers, and NDAs are signed on request. We supply chauffeurs, not security guards. See the fleet page and VIP chauffeur service.
