Toronto is not a famous cruise port, and that is part of its appeal. The ships are small, the season is short, and the ships carry a few hundred passengers each rather than thousands. But the logistics are real: a terminal in the Port Lands east of downtown, a seasonal schedule, and an airport 30 km away on the other side of the city. A Toronto cruise port transfer is the part of the trip that connects those pieces.
This page covers where the terminal is, what the Toronto Port Authority says about the 2026 season, how far the terminal is from Pearson, Union Station and the downtown hotels, what documents matter at the border, and how to book a chauffeur through the Enroutz.ca desk, which operates from Toronto.
What is the best Toronto cruise port transfer?
For most passengers it is a pre-booked chauffeur from Pearson or your hotel to the cruise terminal door, at a fixed fare quoted before you pay. A taxi suits light luggage and no schedule; a seasonal city bus exists for travellers who pack light and have time.
The terminal is a turnaround port, meaning ships begin and end voyages here as well as call in passing. That means two flows of people on the same day: those leaving the ship with their bags, and those arriving to board. A chauffeur booked in advance can be timed to your embarkation window or your ship's disembarkation, with the vehicle sized to the luggage.
Toronto is the home base of Enroutz.ca, so this is the one cruise page where the ride is operated by our own fleet and chauffeurs from the Toronto desk, rather than by a partner. The same desk can also arrange the airport leg, the hotel night before, and a sightseeing day in between.
Where is the Toronto cruise ship terminal?
The Toronto Port Authority's location page gives the address as 8 Unwin Avenue, at the corner of Unwin Avenue and Cherry Street. Passengers embark and disembark at the building's North Door, and the port says sandwich boards for arrivals and departures guide you to it. For drivers coming from the south on Cherry Street, the port's directions are to turn right onto Unwin Avenue, take the first left before the security gatehouse, and follow the road around to the terminal.

The security gatehouse in those directions is the detail that matters. A chauffeur who has done the run knows which gate and which door to use, and a driver who has not may need several minutes to find the terminal. We give the chauffeur the cruise line, the ship name and the embarkation or disembarkation time so the vehicle is waiting at the correct door.
The 2026 season, from the port's own schedule
The Toronto Port Authority's 2026 schedule lists 45 cruise ship calls from 16 April to 27 October, and says dates are subject to change. The port's main cruise page expects about 45 ships and more than 18,500 passengers across the season.

The schedule lists these cruise lines and vessels: Viking Cruises (Polaris and Octantis), Victory Cruise Lines (Victory I and Victory II), Pearl Sea Cruises (Pearl Mist), Ponant (Le Bellot) and Hapag-Lloyd (Hanseatic Inspiration). The listed capacities run from 184 to 378 passengers per call, so these are small ships, not floating cities. That is useful for the ground transport: a call does not mean thousands of people leaving at once, and a chauffeur can reach the terminal without a convoy of coaches.
It is October as we write, so the 2026 season is almost over. If you are planning for 2027, check the port's website for the next schedule once it is published; we have not seen it, so we do not state dates. When you book, enter the sailing date and ship name, and the desk will adjust the pickup if the ship's time changes.
Distances and drive times to the terminal
All figures are approximate and the booker works out the exact distance for your address. Toronto traffic is heaviest at the morning and evening commutes on the Gardiner Expressway and Lake Shore, and on event days at the waterfront venues.

| Journey to the terminal | Distance (about) | Typical drive time |
|---|---|---|
| Toronto Pearson (YYZ) | about 30 km | 30 to 55 minutes |
| Union Station | about 5 km | 10 to 20 minutes |
| Billy Bishop Airport (YTZ) | about 6 km | 15 to 25 minutes |
| Fairmont Royal York and Financial District hotels | about 5 km | 10 to 20 minutes |
| Yorkville hotels | about 8 km | 15 to 30 minutes |
For the airport leg, see the Pearson airport limo page and the Billy Bishop page. For rail arrivals, the Union Station page covers pickups there. If you are landing from abroad, the Toronto airport transfer page explains arrival, customs and the first night.
Embarkation day: how to time it
Cruise lines publish their own check-in windows, and they are the ones that count. The Toronto port's schedule gives arrival and departure times for each call; for example, it lists Viking Polaris arriving at 12:00 on 16 April and departing at 20:00 on 17 April. Use the cruise line's boarding documents for your check-in window rather than the port's table, because the port lists the ship's movements, not your boarding time.

A sensible rule is to leave your hotel so that you reach the terminal inside the cruise line's window, not at its start, and to allow an extra half hour for Toronto traffic. If you are flying in on the same day, do not book a tight connection. Land at Pearson at least three to four hours before the embarkation window closes. International flights add customs and baggage time, and we include 60 minutes of free waiting after landing on international arrivals (30 minutes domestic, 15 minutes on other pickups) so the chauffeur is there when you come out.
Flight tracking is included on every airport pickup, so a delayed aircraft moves the pickup automatically. The name-board meet-and-greet inside arrivals is available as an add-on; see the meet-and-greet page.
Disembarkation day and getting to the airport
On the way out, the same logic reverses. Ships disembark in the morning, passengers need to clear the terminal, and flights home are often in the afternoon. If your flight is domestic, a pickup at the terminal and a drive to Pearson of about 30 km should take 30 to 55 minutes. If your flight is international, add time for check-in and security. For a flight from Billy Bishop, the drive is shorter, about 6 km.
If you have time before your flight, a chauffeur can hold your bags in the vehicle while you spend a few hours in the city. Our hourly chauffeur service covers that, and the private tours with driver page describes day trips. Niagara Falls is about 130 km from downtown Toronto, usually 1 hour 30 to 2 hours each way, and works as a long pre- or post-cruise day; see the Niagara Falls car service page.
Border documents and the eTA
Some itineraries cross the Canada–United States border, so your travel documents matter. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada's eTA eligibility page says you need an eTA only for air travel, and that travellers from eTA-required countries arriving by land or sea, including on a cruise ship, generally do not. It says U.S. citizens are exempt but must carry proper identification such as a valid U.S. passport, and that visa-required nationals arriving by land or sea, cruise ships included, need a visitor visa instead.
There is one catch that matters for Toronto: the eTA rule follows how you enter Canada. If you fly into Pearson to join your ship, you are arriving by air, and the air rules apply to that leg. Check your nationality against the IRCC page before you fly, and keep your passport in your carry-on, not in checked luggage. The travelling to Toronto guide covers arrival documents for visitors from the USA, the UK and the Gulf.
Comparing the ways to reach the cruise terminal
| Option | Time from Pearson | Cost note | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pre-booked chauffeur (Enroutz.ca) | 30 to 55 minutes | Fixed fare via booker | Families, luggage, schedules, ship-day certainty |
| Taxi | 30 to 55 minutes | Metered | Light luggage, no tight window |
| Rideshare | 30 to 60 minutes | Surge-priced at peaks | Solo travellers who know the port gate |
| TTC bus 202 (seasonal) | Longer, with transfers | Lowest | Light packers with time; runs mid-May to October |
| Train to Union Station, then a car | Varies | Train fare plus car | Travellers who prefer rail from the airport |
The port's location page notes that cruise passengers can reach the terminal easily by private car or taxi, and that the TTC 202 bus runs seasonally from mid-May to October, connecting to downtown and other points in the Greater Toronto Area, with the closest stop at Cherry Street and Unwin Avenue. If you have one small bag and a few hours, the bus is the lowest-cost choice and we say so. Where the chauffeur wins is with luggage, a family, a fixed boarding window or an early disembarkation. See chauffeur versus rideshare for the fuller comparison.
Vehicles and luggage
Cruise luggage is large. The Executive Sedan and First Class Sedan carry up to three passengers with two large and two cabin bags, which suits a couple with modest luggage. A Luxury SUV (Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon Denali or similar) takes up to six passengers and five to six large bags and is the practical default for a family. The Executive Sprinter carries up to twelve passengers and twelve bags, and mini-coaches and coaches (20 to 56 seats) are available on request for groups. The exact model is confirmed at booking. Maybach, Rolls-Royce and stretch limousine are on request, with availability confirmed at booking. See the fleet page and the group transportation page.
Child, toddler and booster seats are available on request at booking. Most vehicles carry Wi-Fi, water and phone chargers. Chauffeurs do not photograph clients or post about trips.
The night before: Toronto hotels
Many passengers spend the night before sailing in Toronto. The Toronto hotels hub lists the main downtown and Yorkville properties, and the Fairmont Royal York page covers a hotel directly across from Union Station, about 5 km from the terminal. For a first visit, the attractions page shows what is within reach.
Booking and cancellation
Open the booker, enter your hotel or flight and the terminal as the destination, add the sailing date, and the desk confirms a fixed quote. For the wider picture, the cruise ports hub lists every port we serve. The same desk can arrange your onward journey: see the Montréal cruise page and the Québec City cruise page for the St. Lawrence ports, and the black car service in Toronto page for the city itself.
Cancellation terms: more than 72 hours' notice, no charge; 72 hours or less, 10%; 48 hours or less, 50%; 24 hours or less or a no-show, 100%, measured from the scheduled pickup time. Large events and conventions may carry a different deadline, stated on the confirmation.
Frequently asked questions
Where is the Toronto cruise terminal?
The Toronto Port Authority gives the address of the Cruise Ship Terminal as 8 Unwin Avenue, at the corner of Unwin Avenue and Cherry Street. Passengers embark and disembark at the North Door.
How far is the Toronto cruise terminal from Pearson Airport?
About 30 km, usually 30 to 55 minutes by road depending on the Gardiner Expressway and the hour. The booker shows the exact fare for your pickup before you confirm.
How far is the cruise terminal from downtown Toronto?
About 5 km from Union Station and the Financial District, usually 10 to 20 minutes outside the rush hours.
When is the Toronto cruise season?
The port's 2026 schedule runs from 16 April to 27 October, with 45 calls. It says dates are subject to change. We have not seen a 2027 schedule, so check the Toronto Port Authority's website for it.
Is there public transit to the cruise terminal?
The port says the TTC 202 bus runs seasonally from mid-May to October, with the closest stop at Cherry Street and Unwin Avenue. It suits light packers with time. For luggage or a fixed boarding window, a pre-booked car is easier.
Do I need an eTA to join a cruise in Toronto?
It depends on how you enter Canada. IRCC says an eTA is needed only for air travel, and that most arrivals by sea do not need one. If you fly into Toronto to join the ship, the air rules apply to that arrival, so check the IRCC page first.
Can the chauffeur wait if my flight is late?
Yes. The desk tracks the flight. Free waiting is 60 minutes after landing on international arrivals, 30 minutes domestic and 15 minutes on other pickups, as stated on your confirmation.
Can you take our luggage and family in one vehicle?
Usually, with a Luxury SUV for up to six passengers and five to six large bags. For more people or bags, we use an Executive Sprinter or a second vehicle. Tell us the numbers when you book.
