Québec is the one Canadian province where the road signs, the menus and the legal framework all work differently from Ontario. A visitor landing in Toronto who then drives east discovers that quickly. A chauffeur who knows the province removes most of that friction, which is why many Toronto-based travellers and international guests book a Québec ride before they leave home. This page explains how Enroutz.ca arranges chauffeur service in Québec, what the main routes look like, and what to know about the seasons.

How does chauffeur service work in Québec?

Enroutz.ca takes your booking at its Toronto desk and confirms it in writing. In Québec the ride itself is delivered by a vetted, licensed and commercially insured local chauffeur partner. You receive one confirmation, one fixed fare and one invoice, and the desk stays reachable around the clock.

The partner model matters in Québec for practical reasons. Montréal and Québec City have their own taxi and limousine licensing, their own airport procedures and their own winter driving culture. A local partner already works inside those rules every day. Enroutz.ca does not own vehicles or offices in Québec; what it provides is the single point of contact, the vetting of partners and the invoice.

Partner vehicles are no more than four model years old, and Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Maybach vehicles requested for a special occasion are accepted up to seven model years. The exact model is confirmed at booking, and the classes you can choose from are described on the fleet page: Executive Sedan, First Class Sedan, Luxury SUV and Executive Sprinter, with mini-coaches and coaches on request.

Québec at a glance for a first-time visitor

Most travellers meet Québec through two cities. Montréal is the larger, an island city of neighbourhoods, universities, festival grounds and a compact business core. Québec City sits about 250 km (155 miles) to the north-east on the St. Lawrence River and is the provincial capital, with the only fortified old town north of Mexico, according to Québec City's tourism site. Between them runs Autoroute 20 on the south shore and Autoroute 40 on the north shore, and Québec City's tourism office puts the drive from Montréal at about two and a half hours.

Beyond those two cities the province fans out into resort and countryside areas that suit a chauffeur well. Mont-Tremblant lies about 130 km north-west of Montréal, usually 1 hour 30 minutes by road. Charlevoix, with Baie-Saint-Paul and La Malbaie, begins roughly 95 km north-east of Québec City. The Eastern Townships are an easy run south-east of Montréal. Each of these is a place where a hired car with a driver beats a rental car on the first evening, when you are tired, the light is going and the road signs are in French.

The Canada hub shows every province we cover. If your trip also touches Ontario, the Ontario page explains the Toronto end of the route, and the Ottawa page covers the capital that sits between Toronto and Montréal.

Times are typical in normal conditions. A snowstorm, a Friday-afternoon exodus to the ski hills or a closed lane on the Décarie can change them, and the chauffeur is told the flight and the plan so the day can be adjusted in real time.

Montréal: airport, station and downtown

Montréal is where most Québec bookings start. The airport, Montréal-Trudeau (YUL), is about 20 km from downtown. The booking page for Montréal covers neighbourhoods and festivals in detail, and the YUL airport page covers arrivals, customs timing and pickup. The central railway station is Gare Centrale beneath the Queen Elizabeth hotel; see the Montréal Central Station page for the pickup picture.

One local fact worth knowing: the REM light-rail line is being extended to the airport. As of October 2026 the REM network site reports dynamic testing on the airport branch, which is not in service, and the target reported by Aéroports de Montréal is 2027. Until it opens, the ways to reach downtown are the 747 bus, a taxi, a rideshare or a pre-booked chauffeur.

Québec City: the walled city and the cruise season

Québec City is compact, hilly and built for walking, but the airport, the train station and the cruise terminals are all outside the old walls, and the lower town is reached by steep streets that are slippery in winter. A chauffeur drops you at the door of your hotel or at the closest point a vehicle can reach, and carries the luggage question off your hands. The Québec City page covers Old Québec, the Château Frontenac area and the Winter Carnival, and the Québec City airport page covers YQB.

The Port of Québec lists two cruise terminals, the Ross-Gaudreault terminal near Old Québec and the Petit-Champlain district, and Cruise Terminal 30, with additional wharves for ships that need them. Embarkation and disembarkation rides are on the cruise port transfers page.

Mont-Tremblant, Charlevoix and the day-trip country

Chauffeured touring is where Québec shines. A day out from Montréal to Mont-Tremblant, a night in Charlevoix after a morning in Québec City, or a loop through the Eastern Townships can all be built as a single booking. The private tours with driver page shows how itineraries are structured, and the hourly chauffeur page explains how as-directed time is counted when you want the car to wait.

For resort stays, ask for an SUV or an Executive Sprinter if you are travelling with ski bags or golf clubs. A Luxury SUV takes up to six passengers and five to six large bags; the Sprinter takes up to twelve passengers and twelve bags. A sedan takes up to three passengers with two large and two cabin bags, so a family of four with equipment needs the larger class.

Winter in Québec: tires, snow and the Carnaval

Winter shapes Québec travel more than any other season. Under provincial law, vehicles registered in Québec must run winter tires from 1 December to 15 March; the fine for non-compliance is listed on the government's winter tire page, which also states that vehicles registered outside the province are not covered. A licensed local partner operates inside that rule. The practical consequence for you is simple: if you plan to hire a car yourself in winter, you take on the tire and snow question; if you hire a chauffeur, you do not.

The largest winter event is the Carnaval de Québec. The organiser's site gives the 2027 edition as 5 to 14 February 2027. During those days the area around the old town fills with visitors, parking is hard, and a chauffeur's ability to drop you at a hotel door is worth a great deal.

French and English on the road

Québec's official language is French, and signs are in French. Many people in Montréal and Québec City speak English, and a chauffeur can handle an English-language trip. If you prefer a French-speaking or English-speaking chauffeur, say so when you book and the desk will confirm what the partner can provide. Outside Québec the same request is handled "on request" and cannot be guaranteed, which is why the preference is best stated early.

Arriving from the USA, Europe or the Gulf

Most international visitors enter Canada at Toronto or Montréal. If you fly in and need an electronic travel authorization, the Government of Canada's eTA page explains that visa-exempt foreign nationals who fly into a Canadian airport need an eTA, while US citizens are exempt and should carry a valid passport. The same page notes that an eTA is valid for up to five years or until the passport expires, and that it is not required for travellers arriving by car, bus, train or boat, cruise ships included.

Montréal-Trudeau is one of ten Canadian airports with US Customs and Border Protection preclearance, which means flights to the USA are cleared before you leave Canada. Plan to arrive at the terminal earlier for those flights than a domestic trip would suggest, and tell the desk if your chauffeur needs to meet you at a specific hour.

On international arrivals, chauffeurs track the flight and wait up to 60 minutes free after landing; on domestic arrivals the free wait is 30 minutes, and on other pickups 15 minutes. A name-board meet-and-greet inside arrivals can be added at booking. See the meet and greet page for how it works.

The train is often the better choice for a single traveller going station to station between Montréal and Québec City, and we say so plainly. A chauffeur wins when you have luggage, a group, a late flight, a resort destination or a winter forecast.

Corporate, events and groups

Québec hosts conventions, film productions, festivals and weddings. Corporate accounts with monthly invoicing and cost-centre references are described on the corporate chauffeur page, and delegate movements for conferences are on the meetings, incentives and conferences page. For a group arriving on several flights, the group transportation page covers Sprinters and mini-coaches. Because the booking is held by the Toronto desk, a company can book Toronto, Montréal and Québec City legs on one invoice.

Crossing from Toronto or the USA

Travellers who start in Toronto can add a Québec leg through the city-to-city car service. A one-way run between Toronto and Montréal is quoted as a single fixed fare by the desk. Cross-border trips from Québec to the USA are different: they are international journeys, and the cross-border car service page explains documents and border timing. For US cities, the USA hub lists the major destinations.

If you are weighing us against other ways of getting around, the chauffeur versus rideshare guide sets out when each wins, and the worldwide chauffeur network page explains how partner vetting works.

Booking a Québec chauffeur

Use the online booker for any pickup in the province. Enter the pickup, the destination, the date and the number of passengers and bags. The desk confirms the vehicle class and a fixed fare, quoted before you pay, and the confirmation names the pickup point and the free waiting time. Child, toddler and booster seats are available on request at booking; Wi-Fi, water and phone chargers are in most vehicles.

Cancellation follows one schedule: more than 72 hours' notice carries no charge; 72 hours or less 10%; 48 hours or less 50%; 24 hours or less, or a no-show, 100%, all measured from the scheduled pickup time. Large events and conventions may carry a different deadline, stated on the confirmation. Chauffeurs do not photograph clients or post about trips, and NDAs are signed on request.

Frequently asked questions

Is chauffeur service in Québec run by Enroutz.ca vehicles?

No. In Québec the ride is delivered by a vetted, licensed and commercially insured local chauffeur partner, and Enroutz.ca books, confirms and invoices it. We do not own vehicles or offices in Québec.

How far is Montréal from Québec City by car?

About 250 km, which is roughly 155 miles, and usually about two and a half hours in normal traffic. Winter weather, summer construction and holiday weekends can add time, so the booker shows the exact fare for your addresses and vehicle.

Can I book a one-way chauffeur from Toronto to Montréal?

Yes. The distance is about 540 km and the drive typically takes five and a half to six hours. Enter both addresses in the booker and the desk confirms a fixed quote before you pay.

Do I need winter tires in Québec?

The provincial rule applies from 1 December to 15 March to vehicles registered in Québec, and it does not cover vehicles registered elsewhere. If you hire a chauffeur you do not need to think about it; if you rent a car, check that it complies.

Do chauffeurs in Québec speak French or English?

You can ask for a French-speaking or English-speaking chauffeur when you book. The desk confirms what the local partner can provide for your date.

When is the Carnaval de Québec in 2027?

The organiser lists 5 to 14 February 2027. Book early, because hotels around the old town fill and the streets are busy.

Is there a train from Montréal-Trudeau Airport to downtown?

Not yet. The REM airport branch was in testing as of October 2026 and has not opened; the operator's target is 2027. Until then the 747 bus, taxis, rideshare and pre-booked chauffeurs are the options.

How much does a Québec transfer cost?

The fare depends on the route, the date and the vehicle. The online booker shows the exact all-in fare for your addresses before payment, with no surprises on the day.

Can the chauffeur wait for a delayed flight?

Yes. Flight tracking is on every airport pickup, and international arrivals include 60 minutes of free waiting after landing, domestic arrivals 30 minutes.
