Boston Logan is one of the closest big-city airports in North America to the centre it serves. It sits on the harbour in East Boston, and the downtown skyline is visible from the runways. That closeness is also the problem: every road in and out passes through a tunnel or a bridge, and those crossings are what decide whether your Boston Logan car service takes 12 minutes or 60. This page explains how a pre-booked chauffeur works at BOS, where the driver meets you at each terminal, what the real alternatives are, and when the free Silver Line bus is the better choice.
Boston airport car service from Enroutz.ca
Enroutz.ca is a Toronto-based chauffeur desk. For Boston, the ride is delivered by a vetted, licensed and commercially insured local chauffeur partner, while the booking, the confirmation and the invoice stay with the Toronto desk. You get one booking, one confirmation, one invoice and one point of contact, 24 hours a day.
Boston is a popular onward destination for people already travelling from Toronto, and it is one of the cities where a Toronto-booked chauffeur on both ends makes sense: a driver at Pearson in the morning, a driver at Logan on landing, and one invoice for the trip. If you are leaving from Toronto, start with Pearson airport limo or Billy Bishop airport.
What is the easiest way to get from Logan Airport to downtown Boston?

The easiest way is a pre-booked chauffeur waiting at your terminal with your name and flight tracked: fixed fare, no queue, door to door. The cheapest is the free MBTA Silver Line SL1 to South Station. Logan to downtown is about 5 km (3 miles) and usually takes 15 to 35 minutes by car.
The short distance means a taxi or a car service always beats the clock in the middle of the night. At 8 a.m. on a weekday, the Ted Williams Tunnel and the Sumner and Callahan tunnels can back up, and the saving over the Silver Line shrinks. Our drivers check live conditions and choose between the tunnels on the day.
Terminals A, B, C and E: where your driver meets you
Logan has four passenger terminals. Terminal E is the international terminal; the other three are domestic. Massport, which runs the airport, lists the following pre-arranged and limousine pickup points on its taxi and limo page:

- Terminal A: the lot across from the kerb on the Arrivals (lower) level.
- Terminal B: kerbside on the Departures (upper) level, between doors B-205 and B-208.
- Terminal C: the ground-level limo stand at the Central Parking Garage, following the signs.
- Terminal E: E Lot 2 on the Arrivals (lower) level.
Massport's pickup and drop-off page adds a few rules that every driver follows. There is no waiting at the terminal kerb; early drivers hold in the cell phone lot at 6 Tomahawk Drive, which has a 30-minute maximum, and move to the kerb when the passenger is ready. So when your driver says "I will be at the pickup point in five minutes", that is the reason.
Your Enroutz.ca confirmation names the right spot for your terminal, and the driver's message arrives before you land. For arrivals in Terminal E you can add a name-board meet-and-greet inside the arrivals hall; the board can carry an alias for privacy. See the meet and greet service page.
Terminal assignments change. Massport's airport updates currently list work around doors in Terminals B, C and E, including a relocated stop at Terminal C. Your driver's message on the day takes priority over any printed map.
Boston by distance: Logan to the places that matter
Distances are road distances from the terminals. Times are typical ranges, not promises; traffic, tunnel closures and events change them.

| Trip | Distance | Typical drive time |
|---|---|---|
| Logan to downtown Boston / Financial District | about 5 km (3 miles) | 12–35 minutes |
| Logan to the Seaport and convention centre | about 5 km (3 miles) | 12–30 minutes |
| Logan to Back Bay and Copley Square | about 8 km (5 miles) | 20–45 minutes |
| Logan to Cambridge (Kendall Square, MIT) | about 9 km (6 miles) | 20–50 minutes |
| Logan to Longwood Medical Area | about 11 km (7 miles) | 25–55 minutes |
| Logan to Salem | about 26 km (16 miles) | 35–60 minutes |
The booker shows the exact fare for your address and vehicle before you confirm.
The tunnels, in plain English
If you have never been to Boston, here is the layout. Logan is on a peninsula. To reach it from the city centre you cross the harbour through one of three tunnels:
- Ted Williams Tunnel (I-90): links the airport to the Massachusetts Turnpike and the Seaport; the usual route to the south and west.
- Sumner and Callahan tunnels (Route 1A): the pair that links East Boston to the North End and the Financial District; the usual route to the north and downtown core.
Tunnels charge tolls and are subject to scheduled maintenance. Massport and MassDOT publish current closures. You do not need to track any of this yourself: the fixed fare in the booker includes the tolls on the route, and the driver picks the open tunnel.
Your options from Logan compared
Honest advice matters here, because Logan has one of the best free airport transfers in the United States.

| Option | Typical time to downtown | Cost note | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pre-booked chauffeur (Enroutz.ca) | 12–35 minutes | Fixed fare via booker | Business arrivals, late flights, heavy luggage, families |
| MBTA Silver Line SL1 | 20–30 minutes to South Station | Free from the airport | Solo travellers, South Station or the Seaport |
| Blue Line via shuttle | 25–40 minutes | Subway fare applies | Downtown or the North End by subway |
| Water taxi | 10–20 minutes on the water, plus shuttle | Fare set by the operator | Waterfront hotels |
| Taxi | 12–35 minutes | Metered | Travellers who prefer to choose at the stand |
| Rideshare | 12–40 minutes | Surge-priced at peak times | Light bags, flexible plans |
Massport's ground transportation page says the Silver Line SL1 provides free service between South Station and all airport terminals, collecting from the terminal kerb, and that passengers can connect to other subway lines at South Station. For a solo traveller with one bag heading to South Station or the Seaport, it is hard to beat, and we will tell you so. The Blue Line runs from Airport station, reached by an on-airport shuttle; the MBTA lists a one-way subway fare of $2.40 on its Airport station page as of 2026.
The case for a chauffeur is different: you arrive on an international flight into Terminal E at 7:30 p.m., you have two cases and a meeting at 8 a.m., and you want to arrive at the hotel door rather than a train station. For the same trip at 3 p.m. with a backpack, take the Silver Line.
Flying from Toronto to Boston
Toronto and Boston are linked by frequent short flights, so many Enroutz.ca passengers arrive on a business day-trip and leave the same evening. US Customs and Border Protection runs Preclearance at both Toronto airports, which means you clear US inspection before boarding; the CBP Preclearance page lists Toronto Pearson and Billy Bishop and says preclearance travellers skip CBP and TSA inspection on arrival in the United States. On landing in Boston you collect your bags and go to the pickup point.
The Massport construction notices refer to an "Air Canada/American/Alaska side" of Terminal B, so Air Canada services are best expected there; always check your boarding pass.
If you are leaving Boston for Toronto, tell us your Toronto destination at booking and the desk will have a car waiting at Pearson as well. For longer trips, see the cross-border car service page.
Boston neighbourhoods a first-time visitor should know
- The Seaport: glass towers and the convention centre, five minutes from Logan on a good run. Hotels here are close to the airport.
- Back Bay: Newbury Street, Copley Square and the Hynes convention centre. Narrow one-way streets; the driver will stop where the street allows.
- Beacon Hill and the North End: historic, hilly and very narrow. A large SUV may need to drop you at the end of the block.
- Cambridge: across the Charles River; the route runs through the city or via the Storrow Drive and the bridges.
- Longwood: the hospital and research district; common for medical travellers.
- The Financial District: the quickest ride from Logan, usually.
The Boston Marathon is usually held in April and closes streets in Back Bay and along the course; commencement weeks in May bring heavy hotel demand in Cambridge. The desk allows for these when it quotes a pickup time.
Vehicles for Logan pickups
All classes are "or similar", with the exact model confirmed at booking.

- First Class Sedan: Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series or similar; up to 3 passengers, same bag allowance.
- Luxury SUV: Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon Denali or similar; up to 6 passengers and 5–6 large bags.

Corporate travel, conferences and groups
Boston's economy runs on universities, hospitals, biotech and finance, so many of our bookings are for delegations. A single account can cover the whole programme.
- Corporate accounts with monthly invoicing; see corporate accounts and the corporate chauffeur service.
- Meetings and conferences: coordinated pickups for arrival waves; see meetings, incentives and conferences and group transportation.
- Hourly hire: a chauffeur on standby between meetings in Cambridge, the Seaport and Longwood; see hourly chauffeur.
- City and regional guide: Boston car service covers the wider city.
Waiting time and cancellations
Free waiting is 60 minutes after landing on an international arrival and 30 minutes on a domestic one. The driver tracks your flight, so a delay simply moves the pickup.
More than 72 hours' notice means no charge. At 72 hours or less the cancellation fee is 10%; at 48 hours or less it is 50%; at 24 hours or less or on a no-show it is 100%, measured from the scheduled pickup time. Large events and conventions may carry a different deadline, stated on the confirmation.
Onward travel from Boston
Many passengers continue to another city. The city-to-city car service page explains long-distance transfers, and the Washington, DC car service and New York car service pages cover the other Northeast Corridor cities. For the airport list, see the airports hub and the USA hub; LaGuardia is the nearest comparable airport page.
Discretion and security
Chauffeurs do not photograph clients or post about trips, and NDAs are signed on request. Enroutz.ca is a chauffeur service, not a security company: there are no armed drivers and no bodyguards, and we work alongside a client's own security team.
