Dallas Fort Worth International is not near Dallas, and it is not near Fort Worth. It sits between them, in the middle of the Metroplex, and by area it is larger than the island of Manhattan: the airport's own fact sheet gives more than 26.9 square miles. That scale is the first thing to understand about a DFW car service. Terminals are far apart, the highways around the airport are among the busiest in Texas, and the two downtowns you might be heading for are each a half-hour or more away. This page explains how a pre-booked chauffeur works at DFW, how the five terminals fit together, what the real alternatives are and when the train beats the car.
DFW airport car service from Enroutz.ca
Enroutz.ca is a Toronto-based chauffeur desk. For Dallas and Fort Worth, the ride is delivered by a vetted, licensed and commercially insured local chauffeur partner, while the booking, the confirmation and the invoice stay with the Toronto desk: one booking, one confirmation, one invoice and a single point of contact, 24 hours a day. Trips inside the United States use US-licensed partners, because Canadian vehicles cannot do domestic point-to-point work there.
Toronto and Dallas share a business corridor, with energy, finance, telecoms and aerospace firms on both sides, and Dallas runs on Central time, one hour behind Toronto. The US Customs and Border Protection Preclearance page lists Toronto Pearson and Billy Bishop and says preclearance travellers skip CBP and TSA inspection on arrival in the United States. For the first leg in Toronto, see Pearson airport limo.
What is the best way to get from DFW airport to Dallas or Fort Worth?

A pre-booked chauffeur is the simplest: a fixed fare, a named driver and no queue. DFW to downtown Dallas or Fort Worth is about 30 km (19 miles), usually 25 to 55 minutes. The lowest-cost options are DART light rail to Dallas from Terminal A and TEXRail to Fort Worth from Terminal B.
Public transit is genuinely useful at DFW, and we will say so. The point of a chauffeur is to avoid the Metroplex freeway network, the toll roads and the walk between terminals, and to have a driver who knows that "downtown Dallas" and "Las Colinas" are two different places.
The five DFW terminals and the Skylink
DFW has five terminals, A to E, with more than 160 gates, according to the airport. Terminal D is the international terminal. The airport's airline page lists international carriers at D: Air France, British Airways, Emirates, Japan Airlines, Korean Air, Lufthansa, Qantas and Qatar Airways, among others. American Airlines, the hub carrier, operates from A, B, C, D and part of E. The same page lists Air Canada at Terminal E at gate E2, alongside Delta, United, Alaska, Frontier and JetBlue, so a Toronto traveller on Air Canada should expect Terminal E, but confirm on your ticket.

Terminals are connected by Skylink, a driverless train inside security, and by International Parkway on the road side. The road layout matters for a driver: you cannot easily "pop over" from Terminal A to Terminal E in a car, so if two members of your party land at different terminals, we plan the pickup in advance. Tell the desk the flight numbers for each passenger.
The airport's transportation page confirms that taxis are on the lower level of Terminals A, B, C, D and E. It lists limousines and prearranged rides as service categories without publishing a single pickup point, so your Enroutz.ca confirmation names the exact meeting place for your terminal, and the driver sends a message when you land. For a name-board meet-and-greet inside arrivals (with an alias on the board if you prefer privacy), see meet and greet.
Distances and drive times from DFW
All distances are approximate road distances from the terminals. Times are typical ranges; Metroplex traffic is highly variable.
| Trip | Distance | Typical drive time |
|---|---|---|
| DFW to Las Colinas (Irving) | about 10 km (6 miles) | 12–25 minutes |
| DFW to downtown Dallas | about 30 km (19 miles) | 25–55 minutes |
| DFW to Uptown and the Design District | about 30 km (19 miles) | 25–60 minutes |
| DFW to downtown Fort Worth | about 30 km (19 miles) | 25–55 minutes |
| DFW to Arlington entertainment district | about 25 km (15 miles) | 25–50 minutes |
| DFW to Dallas Love Field | about 25 km (15 miles) | 25–50 minutes |
| DFW to Plano and Frisco | about 45 km (28 miles) | 40–80 minutes |
The booker shows the exact fare for your address and vehicle before you confirm.
Highways and tolls around DFW
The airport's directions page describes the main approaches: State Highway 183 from the south, and State Highway 114 or Interstate 635 from the north. International Parkway runs north to south through the airport and connects the terminals, parking areas and on-site hotels. Tolls are common in the region. The airport notes that drivers with a TollTag pass automatically, and that hotel shuttles and authorised ground transportation include tolls in their fares. With Enroutz.ca, the fixed fare in the booker is all-in: you never stop to pay a toll.

Texas weather matters too. Summer thunderstorms cause flight delays and road flooding; winter ice storms, rare but severe, can close freeways. The driver tracks both your flight and the road.
Your options from DFW compared

| Option | Typical time to downtown Dallas / Fort Worth | Cost note | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pre-booked chauffeur (Enroutz.ca) | 25–55 minutes | Fixed fare via booker | Business arrivals, late flights, groups, suburban destinations |
| DART Orange Line | Varies; use DART's trip planner | Low | Solo travellers with light bags, hotels beside a DART station |
| TEXRail to Fort Worth | Varies; use Trinity Metro's schedule | Low | Downtown Fort Worth, the Stockyards via transfer |
| Taxi | 25–55 minutes | Metered | Travellers who prefer to choose at the stand |
| Rideshare | 25–60 minutes | Surge-priced at peak times | Light bags, flexible plans |
| Hotel shuttle | Varies | Usually free | Hotels at the airport |
| Rental car | 25–55 minutes | Daily rate plus parking | Trips across the Metroplex |
The airport's public transit page says the DART Orange Line runs from Plano through downtown Dallas and Irving to Terminal A, and that TEXRail starts in downtown Fort Worth, passes through North Richland Hills and Grapevine, and ends at Terminal B. It adds that DART's Silver Line also serves Terminal B, bypassing downtown Dallas. For a traveller with a hotel beside a station, these are legitimate low-cost choices. They do not, however, replace a car for a destination in Frisco, Plano, Arlington or the north Dallas corridor, or for a late arrival. The pages do not give travel times or fares, so check DART and Trinity Metro for current schedules.
Dallas, Fort Worth and everything between
The Metroplex is a collection of cities with long distances between them.
- Downtown Dallas: hotels, the convention centre and the arts district. About 30 km from DFW.
- Uptown and Turtle Creek: upscale hotels, restaurants and offices, a short ride north of downtown.
- Las Colinas: Irving's business district, close to DFW; many corporate headquarters.
- Downtown Fort Worth and the Cultural District: the stockyards, museums and Sundance Square. About 30 km west.
- Arlington: the sports and entertainment area, between the two cities.
- Plano, Frisco and Addison: the northern corporate belt with large campuses, 30 to 45 km from DFW.
Many visitors have a destination in more than one of these. A chauffeur can cover multi-stop days across the Metroplex; an hourly chauffeur booking keeps one car and driver with you. City information is on the Dallas car service page, and for the nearby coast, the Houston car service page.
DFW and Dallas Love Field
Dallas Love Field is the smaller airport close to Dallas, about 25 km from DFW. If your flight lands at Love Field, you can book the same service; enter the airport as your pickup in the booker and the desk confirms a fixed quote. For transfers between the two airports, allow at least 45 minutes.
Business travel and conferences
Dallas is a major corporate and convention city. Corporate accounts with monthly invoicing are available: see corporate accounts and the corporate chauffeur service. For delegations arriving across several flights, see meetings, incentives and conferences and group transportation. For trade-show weeks, see trade show transportation.

Arriving from overseas: entry rules at DFW
Passengers arriving from Europe or the Middle East clear inspection at DFW's Terminal D. Visitors from Visa Waiver Program countries need an approved ESTA before boarding; the CBP ESTA page says you can apply at any time before travel and recommends doing so as soon as you start preparing, and that an e-passport is required. Approval does not guarantee entry.
Allow for the immigration hall. We hold the car for 60 minutes after an international landing at no charge, and the driver tracks the flight.
Waiting time and cancellations
Free waiting is 60 minutes after an international landing and 30 minutes after a domestic landing. More than 72 hours' notice means no charge; at 72 hours or less the fee is 10%; at 48 hours or less, 50%; at 24 hours or less or on a no-show, 100%, measured from the scheduled pickup time. Large events can carry a different deadline, stated on the confirmation.
Chauffeurs do not photograph clients or post about trips, and NDAs are signed on request. Enroutz.ca is a chauffeur service, not a security company: no armed drivers and no bodyguards. For other airports, see the airports hub, the USA hub, Atlanta ATL and Chicago O'Hare.
