Union Station is where most rail travellers meet Toronto for the first time. If you need a Union Station Toronto limo or a car service from Union Station to a hotel, a boardroom or Pearson, a pre-booked chauffeur turns a crowded station into a short, predictable walk to a waiting vehicle. This page explains how pickups work at 65 Front Street West, how Union compares with the other ways of leaving the station, and when the cheaper option is simply the better one.

Union Station Toronto car service: what Enroutz.ca does here

Enroutz.ca operates its Toronto service from the Toronto desk, with its own fleet and chauffeurs, so a Union Station booking is a local job, not a handover to a third party. You book online, the booker shows the exact fare for your destination and vehicle before you pay, and the chauffeur is confirmed against your train details.

Typical Union Station bookings fall into four groups:

  • Arrivals by VIA Rail or the Amtrak Maple Leaf who want a private vehicle to a hotel, a home in the 416 or 905, or a meeting.
  • Departures to Pearson for travellers who prefer a door-to-door ride with luggage to the UP Express platform.
  • Corporate movements between Union, the Financial District and Bay Street offices, often for visiting teams arriving on the morning corridor trains from Ottawa and Montreal.
  • Event days, when the arena and stadium next to the station fill the streets and a chauffeur who knows the closures saves time.

You can choose an Executive Sedan, First Class Sedan, Luxury SUV or Executive Sprinter (see the fleet); the exact model is confirmed at booking.

How do I get a chauffeur pickup at Union Station Toronto?

Passenger on a station platform beside a train
Passenger on a station platform beside a train

Book the ride in advance, give the train number and scheduled arrival, and the chauffeur will be at the station's Front Street side to meet you. Union Station is at 65 Front Street West, between Bay and York Streets, across from the Fairmont Royal York. Your confirmation states the exact staging point.

VIA Rail describes the curbside zone as the sidewalk in front of the main entrance on Front Street. That is also where taxis, hotel vehicles and accessible transport stop, so curb space is shared and can be tight at rush hour. Because roadworks and event closures change the layout around the station from season to season, we confirm the staging point in your booking confirmation rather than quote a fixed door from memory.

A practical arrival routine:

  1. Enter the booking with your train number and scheduled arrival time.
  2. After you step off, follow the signs to the Great Hall and the Front Street exit.
  3. Your chauffeur holds a name board if you added the meet-and-greet option, otherwise look for the vehicle described in your confirmation.
  4. Luggage goes straight into the vehicle; you are in the car within minutes of reaching the curb.

If your train is running late, tell the desk. It is staffed 24/7 and can adjust the pickup. Waiting time on a station pickup is 15 minutes from the scheduled pickup time, so a train that is significantly late is worth a message rather than a hope.

Union Station at a glance: the facts a visitor needs

Union Station opened to the public in August 1927 and was designated a national historic site in 1975, according to the station's own site. The classical Beaux-Arts building has been renovated heavily and now holds shops, a food hall and a market, which makes it a pleasant place to wait but a busy one to find a person in.

Facts from the operators' own pages, checked in 2026:

  • Address: 65 Front Street West, Toronto, ON M5J 1E6.
  • Station hours: daily from 05:30 to 00:45, per VIA Rail.
  • VIA Rail Business Lounge: listed as open daily from 06:00 to 20:00, with Wi-Fi.
  • Transit links: UP Express, GO Transit trains and buses, TTC subway and buses, and a shuttle link to Billy Bishop Airport.
  • Parking: none at the station itself; VIA notes that parking is available nearby.

Opening hours at stations change, so confirm them with VIA Rail or the station before you plan a late arrival. Read the official pages at VIA Rail's Toronto station page and the Union Station site.

Union Station to Pearson: UP Express, TTC or chauffeur?

Pearson is about 27 km from Union Station by road, usually 30 to 50 minutes depending on the Gardiner Expressway and Highway 427 or 401 traffic. By train it is quicker and more predictable. The UP Express is run by Metrolinx and advertises a trip between Pearson and downtown in 28 minutes, with stops at Union, Bloor, Mount Dennis, Weston and Pearson.

If you have one carry-on and a morning flight, the UP Express is often the best choice and we will say so. A chauffeur earns its place when the trip begins at a hotel rather than the station platform, when children or reduced mobility are involved, when several bags are travelling, or when your time is worth more than the saving.

For a flight check-in tip: the booker shows the exact fare for your address and vehicle before you confirm. See also our Pearson airport limo page for terminal procedures.

Arriving by train: VIA Rail, GO and the Amtrak Maple Leaf

Union Station is the Toronto end of VIA Rail's busiest corridor services. Trains from Ottawa, Montreal, Kingston, London, Windsor and Niagara Falls all end here, and so does the Amtrak Maple Leaf from New York. Amtrak lists the Maple Leaf as a daily service of about 12 hours 30 minutes between New York Penn Station and Toronto Union Station, crossing the border at Niagara Falls. Amtrak has posted a service adjustment notice for 17 and 18 October 2026, so confirm the day of travel on Amtrak's Maple Leaf page.

For a visitor, that means three kinds of arrival:

  • Corridor commuters and day visitors from Ottawa and Montreal, who need a quick hop to an office.
  • Long-haul rail travellers from New York, who arrive after a border crossing and want to reach the hotel without a queue.
  • Regional GO riders from Hamilton, Niagara, Barrie and the 905, who often pair a chauffeur ride with a Union arrival for events.

The border formalities for the Maple Leaf are Amtrak's and the border agencies' to explain, and Amtrak's page does not spell out the procedure, so check the travel-document guidance on Amtrak's site before you leave New York. Carry the passport and any visa or electronic authorisation your nationality requires. Tell the desk at booking if your train is the Maple Leaf so the pickup time can allow for the long-distance schedule.

Hotels and districts a few minutes from Union Station

Union Station sits on the south edge of the Financial District, with the waterfront to the south and the entertainment district to the west. Short hops from the station rarely take more than 10 to 15 minutes by car outside rush hour.

  • Fairmont Royal York is directly across Front Street, a walk of a minute, but luggage and weather can still justify a car for the last block.
  • Front Street and Metro Toronto Convention Centre hotels are a few minutes away. See the Metro Toronto Convention Centre page for the event side.
  • Yorkville (Four Seasons, Park Hyatt) is about 3 to 4 km north, usually 12 to 25 minutes.
  • The Waterfront and Harbour Castle are about 1 km from the station, around 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Exhibition Place is about 4 km west, 10 to 20 minutes depending on the Gardiner.

Our hotel pages for Fairmont Royal York, Four Seasons Toronto and Westin Harbour Castle explain the entrances and the usual pickup quirks.

Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport is about 3 to 4 km from Union Station. VIA's page lists a Billy Bishop shuttle as one of the station connections, and that is a good low-cost way to cover the distance if you are carrying one bag. A chauffeur is quicker door to door only when the trip starts away from the station. Read our Billy Bishop airport page for the tunnel and terminal details.

Event days: Scotiabank Arena, Rogers Centre and parades

The station is next to Scotiabank Arena and close to Rogers Centre, so concert, hockey, basketball and baseball nights put a large crowd on the same streets as rail arrivals. Two consequences:

  • Allow extra time to reach the pickup point on game evenings. Road closures near the arenas can be announced the same day.
  • If you are arriving for an event, a chauffeur who stages around the closures can be better than a rideshare that cannot get to the curb.

For the season's biggest dates, such as the Toronto International Film Festival, see our TIFF page and the wider events hub.

Corporate and group movements from Union Station

Corporate accounts are billed monthly, and Union Station is a frequent origin. Finance teams, law firms and consulting groups arriving from Ottawa or Montreal can book an Executive Sedan for one executive or an Executive Sprinter for a delegation of up to 12. See corporate accounts and the corporate chauffeur service page. If you are travelling for work, our Toronto business travel guide lists the hotels and districts that suit meetings.

Discretion, accessibility and luggage

Chauffeurs do not photograph clients or post about trips, and NDAs are signed on request. Child, toddler and booster seats can be requested at booking, and most vehicles carry Wi-Fi, water and phone chargers. VIA Rail offers its own accessible curbside assistance on 48 hours' notice, which you can combine with a pre-booked ride.

When to choose Union Station over the airport

For city-centre to city-centre trips within the corridor, the train usually beats flying once check-in and security are included. Toronto to Ottawa is about 450 km by road and several hours either way; Toronto to Montreal is longer. If you arrive by train, a private car from the platform to your hotel often makes the best of the time saved. If you are heading to the airport or to a long road trip, see our city-to-city car service and Niagara Falls car service.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find my chauffeur at Union Station?

Your confirmation states the staging point and the vehicle. VIA Rail describes the curbside zone as the sidewalk in front of the main entrance on Front Street; if you added the meet-and-greet option, the chauffeur holds a name board.

How far is Union Station from Pearson Airport?

About 27 km by road, usually 30 to 50 minutes. The UP Express advertises a trip between downtown and Pearson in 28 minutes. The booker shows the exact fare for your address and vehicle before you confirm.

Is a limo at Union Station better than the UP Express?

Not always. If you have one carry-on and are going to a Pearson terminal, the UP Express is excellent value. A chauffeur is better for door-to-door trips, families, heavy luggage, early flights and anyone who wants a fixed pickup.

Does the chauffeur wait if my train is late?

Waiting time on a station pickup is 15 minutes from the scheduled pickup time. If your train is delayed, tell the desk, which is open 24/7, and it will arrange the pickup around the new time.

Can I book a Maple Leaf arrival from New York?

Yes. Enter the Toronto Union Station arrival time from your Amtrak ticket. Check Amtrak's service notices before travel because the Maple Leaf has a posted adjustment on 17 and 18 October 2026.

What vehicles can I choose?

Executive Sedan, First Class Sedan, Luxury SUV or Executive Sprinter, "or similar". Maybach, Rolls-Royce or stretch limousine can be requested, with availability confirmed at booking.

Do you cover other Canadian stations?
Is there a cancellation fee?

More than 72 hours' notice is free; 72 hours or less carries 10%, 48 hours or less 50%, and 24 hours or less or a no-show 100%, measured from the scheduled pickup time. Large events can carry a different deadline, stated on your confirmation.
