What is event transportation in Toronto?

Event transportation is a pre-booked chauffeur who delivers you to a venue at a planned time, waits nearby through the event and collects you at the end. Enroutz.ca runs it from the Toronto desk for galas, concerts, games, festivals and private parties, with the fare fixed before you pay.

Most people think about the ride to an event and forget the ride from it. The ride there is easy: you leave early and traffic is a nuisance rather than a crisis. The ride home is the hard part. Ten thousand people leave a building at once, the streets around it are closed or gridlocked, every rideshare in the neighbourhood is surge-priced and every taxi is taken. An event chauffeur removes that problem by being parked, briefed and waiting.

Everything on this page is about the Toronto desk and its own fleet and chauffeurs. If your event is in another city, the same booking can be placed through the worldwide chauffeur network, delivered by a vetted local partner and invoiced by us.

Event chauffeur service: what we actually run on the night

An event chauffeur is not simply a driver with a longer booking. The job has four parts, and each one is planned before the night.

Two travellers with a suitcase waiting at the kerb
Two travellers with a suitcase waiting at the kerb
  • The arrival. You are taken to the correct drop-off point for the door you will use, not the nearest kerb. For a gala that may be the red-carpet line; for a concert it may be a side entrance close to your section.
  • The wait. The chauffeur stays within a short call of the venue, with the car cleaned, climate-controlled and ready. You do not walk to a rideshare zone.
  • The signal. A text or call when you are 10 minutes from the exit, so the car is already at the agreed pickup point when you step out.
  • The ride home. Straight to the hotel, the residence or the next stop, by the quickest route the traffic allows that night.

The fixed fare is quoted for the exact addresses and vehicle before you pay. Waiting time is part of the booking you build, not a surprise at the end of the evening. The online booker shows the all-in figure, and the desk adjusts the plan if the programme changes.

How a staged arrival works

Arrival choreography is the part of event work that guests notice only when it goes wrong. We build it backwards from the moment you need to be at the door.

  1. Fix the time that matters. This is not doors-open. It is the moment the host, the red carpet, the curtain or the first puck drop requires you to be in your seat.
  2. Agree the drop-off point. Venues usually publish a vehicle plan for large events. We read it, and for private functions we ask the organiser which door guests with chauffeurs should use.
  3. Add a buffer. In Toronto the buffer matters more than the route. A single streetcar blockage on King Street or a closed lane on Bay Street will cost more than the whole drive.
  4. Stage the car. The chauffeur arrives early, holds position and watches the street rather than the clock.
  5. Hand over cleanly. Doors, coats, umbrellas and a short word on where the car will be after the event.

For guests who prefer not to be seen arriving, VIP and celebrity chauffeur service covers alias bookings and back-of-house arrivals coordinated with the venue. Chauffeurs do not photograph clients or post about trips, and NDAs are signed on request.

Toronto venues and what each asks of a vehicle

Toronto's event venues sit in a handful of districts, and each has its own rhythm. This is what to expect, and where to check the venue's own guidance.

Downtown arena district

Scotiabank Arena is at 40 Bay Street, beside Union Station, and hosts hockey, basketball and large concerts. The venue's own site carries its Getting Here page. The practical point is that the arena is next to Toronto's main rail and transit hub, so train and subway are a genuinely good way in. A chauffeur earns its place on the way out if you are staying across town, travelling with a client or heading to a late dinner.

The theatre and festival strip on King Street

Roy Thomson Hall (60 Simcoe Street), the Princess of Wales Theatre (300 King Street West) and TIFF Lightbox (350 King Street West) are within a short walk of each other. During the Toronto International Film Festival, which ran from 10 to 20 September in 2026 and returns each September, the streets around them change and drop-off points move. Our dispatch checks the festival's access plan before each premiere night. See our Toronto International Film Festival page for the festival in detail.

Convention and exhibition venues

The Metro Toronto Convention Centre runs a calendar of public events as well as trade shows; Art Toronto, for example, is listed for 29 October to 1 November 2026. Enercare Centre at 100 Princes' Boulevard, Exhibition Place, is the large-format hall for consumer shows and conventions. Venue pages for each are on our site: Metro Toronto Convention Centre and Enercare Centre.

Outdoor concert sites

Two venues change what an evening looks like. Rogers Stadium is a temporary open-air concert venue on the former Downsview airport lands in North York, with a capacity of about 50,000 and an opening in 2025. The amphitheatre on the Ontario Place waterfront, long known as Budweiser Stage, was renamed RBC Amphitheatre in October 2025. Both are a long way from the downtown hotels, which is why pre-booked cars are popular for these nights.

Galas, award dinners and black-tie evenings

A gala is a timing problem wrapped in a dress code. Guests arrive in a narrow window, the red carpet or photo wall has a queue, and the street outside is full of other chauffeured cars.

For a gala we recommend a First Class Sedan or a Luxury SUV, depending on how many guests travel together and how much clothing needs room. If you are travelling as a couple, the sedan is quieter and quicker through narrow downtown streets. For a table of six, the SUV keeps everyone in one car.

Two practical points. First, ask the host for the arrival window and tell the desk, so your car is staged to match it. Second, tell us if a long gown, a tuxedo bag or a hat box is coming along; luggage space is quoted per class and it is easier to choose the right car than to rearrange one on the kerb.

Reserve your chauffeur

Concerts and stadium nights

Concert traffic is predictable, which is what makes it manageable. The crowd arrives over about two hours and leaves in about forty minutes. The exit window is the dangerous one.

For an arena show, the best plan for most travellers is a split: take the transit in if the venue is on the subway line, and have a chauffeur waiting for the exit. For Downsview or the waterfront, a direct car both ways is often simpler, because the nearest rail or subway stop is a walk away.

Before you book, send us three facts: the venue, the section or gate on your ticket, and the expected finish time. We schedule the pickup 10 to 15 minutes outside the busiest exit zone so that a call from you puts you in a car, not in a queue.

Sport: arena nights, stadium days and corporate hospitality

Hockey and basketball nights at the arena are short and loud; stadium days are long and social. Corporate hospitality guests tend to arrive in groups and leave at different times, which is the situation where a chauffeur adds the most.

  • Executive hosts. A Luxury SUV staged at the hospitality entrance, with a second car for late departures.
  • Client groups of 7 to 12. An Executive Sprinter keeps the group together from hotel to venue and back. See group transportation for capacity and luggage detail.
  • Out-of-town visitors. A meet-and-greet at the airport and a staged pickup at the end of the game turn a long day into a single plan.

If your guests are coming from outside Canada, remember that Toronto's main airport is a short chauffeur ride from downtown and that international arrivals include a free waiting window. The airport transfer page covers arrival logistics for inbound visitors.

Festivals, conventions and city-wide weekends

Festival weekends are different from single-venue events because the road network itself changes. Streets are closed, lanes are shared with crowds, and taxi ranks move. Our dispatch plans each trip against the published closures and adjusts the drop-off point so the last 200 metres do not become a 20-minute detour.

For a weekend with several events, an as-directed booking can be better value of time than separate point-to-point trips. A single chauffeur then holds your plan for the evening and moves you from the dinner to the premiere to the after-party. The hourly chauffeur service explains how hours are counted.

Toronto's wider event calendar includes conferences as well as culture. The city's tourism body publishes a list of 2026 business events at the convention centre and the major hotels, and our events hub tracks the larger ones.

Waiting, return trips and the end of the night

Waiting is the hidden variable in event work. A gala may run 30 minutes late; a concert may have an encore; a game may go to overtime.

On pickups other than airports, the standard free waiting time is 15 minutes from the scheduled pickup. For event bookings where the chauffeur is staged through the programme, the length of the wait is part of the booking you agree, not something improvised at the end. Tell us the expected finish time and a range, and we plan to the later figure.

Return trips can be one stop or several. Common patterns are:

  • Venue to hotel.
  • Venue to restaurant, then residence.
  • Venue to Pearson for an overnight departure, with flight tracking on the booking.
  • Venue to a second venue, for after-parties.

Child, toddler and booster seats are available on request at booking, which matters for family events and daytime festivals.

Event night: chauffeur, rideshare, taxi or transit

An honest comparison helps you choose, and sometimes the lowest-cost option is the better one.

If you are a single traveller going to an arena that sits beside Union Station, the subway or train is usually the right answer. The chauffeur makes sense when timing, comfort, luggage, guests or privacy are part of the evening.

Planning timeline and cancellation

For a standard evening, book as soon as you hold your ticket or invitation. For festival weekends, award nights and big stadium dates, book earlier; the cars and chauffeurs most in demand go first. Corporate planners can use corporate accounts with monthly invoicing and cost-centre references, and event organisers can contact the travel desk for multi-car programmes.

Cancellation terms are measured from the scheduled pickup time: more than 72 hours' notice, no charge; 72 hours or less, 10%; 48 hours or less, 50%; 24 hours or less or a no-show, 100%. Large events and conventions may carry a different deadline, stated on the confirmation.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best event transportation in Toronto for a gala?

A First Class Sedan or a Luxury SUV with a chauffeur who has the venue's arrival plan. The car is staged before your arrival window and waits for your call at the end of the evening. The online booker shows the fixed fare for your addresses before you pay.

Can an event chauffeur wait for me during the show?

Yes. You can book the wait as part of the plan, with the chauffeur staged near the venue. Tell the desk the expected finish time and any range, and the booking is built to the later figure. Standard free waiting on non-airport pickups is 15 minutes from the scheduled pickup.

How early should I book event transportation in Toronto?

As soon as you have your ticket or invitation. For TIFF, major concerts, award nights and holiday weekends, book well ahead because the preferred vehicles are taken first. The desk can still help closer to the date, but choice narrows.

Can I book a car for a concert at Rogers Stadium or RBC Amphitheatre?

Yes. Both venues are a long way from downtown hotels, so many guests book a car in both directions. Tell the desk your gate or section and the expected finish time, and the pickup point is planned around the busiest exits.

Can you take a group of ten to a Raptors or Maple Leafs game?

An Executive Sprinter carries up to 12 passengers with 12 bags and keeps the group together from the hotel to the arena and back. For larger groups, mini-coaches and coaches of 20 to 56 seats are available on request.

Does Enroutz.ca provide security for events?

No. Enroutz.ca is a chauffeur service, not a security company. We do not provide armed drivers or bodyguards, but we work alongside a client's own security team on routes, staging and pickup points.

Can my guests be picked up at Pearson Airport for an event?

Yes. Airport pickups include flight tracking, 60 minutes of free waiting after landing on international arrivals and 30 minutes on domestic arrivals, plus an optional name-board meet and greet inside arrivals.

How are fares worked out for event transportation?

The fare is fixed and quoted before you pay, for the exact addresses, vehicle and hours you book. The online booker shows the all-in figure, so there is no estimate to compare at the end of the night.

What is your cancellation policy for events?

More than 72 hours' notice is free; 72 hours or less is 10%; 48 hours or less is 50%; 24 hours or less or a no-show is 100%, measured from the scheduled pickup time. Large events may carry a different deadline, stated on the confirmation.
