Canada Place is not a dock at the edge of town. It sits at the foot of downtown, a few minutes' walk from Gastown and the Waterfront transit station, and that placement shapes every transfer you will plan. If you are searching for a Canada Place cruise terminal transfer, the useful questions are where your driver should meet you, how much luggage you are moving, and whether your day includes anything beyond the airport.
Enroutz.ca books the ride from the Toronto desk and delivers it through a vetted, licensed and commercially insured local chauffeur partner in British Columbia. You receive one confirmation, one invoice and one contact, and the booker shows an exact fare for your addresses and vehicle before payment.
How do you get from Vancouver Airport (YVR) to the Canada Place cruise terminal?
Fastest and simplest with luggage is a private chauffeur: YVR to Canada Place is about 15 km and takes roughly 25 to 35 minutes. Destination Vancouver puts the airport-to-downtown trip at approximately 30 minutes. The Canada Line train is the lowest-cost alternative and ends at Waterfront Station, beside the terminal.
Both options work. Which one is better depends on your bags and your energy after a long flight, and the rest of this page lays out the trade-offs without pushing you toward the car if the train suits you better.
Vancouver cruise port transfer: the essentials

- Route: Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Canada Place, Vancouver's downtown cruise terminal. About 15 km (roughly 9 miles).
- Typical drive time: 25 to 35 minutes outside rush hours; allow 45 to 60 when the bridges and downtown approaches are congested.
- Meeting points: inside arrivals with a name board (meet-and-greet add-on), or at the kerb.
- Waiting time: 60 minutes free after landing on international arrivals, 30 minutes domestic, 15 minutes on pickups at the terminal.
- Vehicles: Executive Sedan, First Class Sedan, Luxury SUV, Executive Sprinter, all "or similar". Mini-coach and coach (20 to 56 seats) on request.
- Fare: fixed, all-in and shown in the booker before you confirm.
Canada Place and why the location is unusual
Most cruise ports are industrial areas that you reach through gates and security roads. Canada Place is different: it is a downtown terminal. Destination Vancouver notes that the terminal has a convenience store, a souvenir shop and scooter and wheelchair rentals, and that Vancouver has been a cruise homeport for more than 30 years (Destination Vancouver cruise guide). Its pre- and post-cruise planning page adds that the SkyTrain Canada Line links the airport directly with the cruise terminal at Waterfront Station, a trip of about 26 minutes (pre- and post-cruise itinerary).

That downtown position has three practical consequences. Hotels can be a few steps from the terminal, so you may not need a car at all on the first or last night of the trip. Drop-off space is limited, so a driver who knows the approach is more useful than a stranger following a map pin. And the same drive that takes you to the ship can take you onward to Stanley Park, Granville Island or the mountains with no need to return to the airport first.
Your options from YVR, compared honestly

| Option | Typical time | Cost note | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Canada Line train to Waterfront Station | About 26 minutes plus the walk to the terminal | Lowest | Light luggage, travellers comfortable with a short walk or stairs |
| Taxi from the airport rank | 25–35 minutes | Metered | Spur-of-the-moment arrivals with ordinary bags |
| Rideshare | 25–35 minutes plus wait | Surge-priced at peak | Light luggage, off-peak arrivals |
| Hotel or cruise-line shuttle | Varies with pickup rounds | Included or low | Packages that already bundle a shuttle |
| Rental car | 25–35 minutes plus counter time | Variable; downtown parking adds cost | Drivers continuing to Whistler or the Sunshine Coast |
| Private chauffeur from Enroutz.ca | 25–35 minutes | Fixed fare via booker | Families, heavy luggage, early embarkation, groups |
The Canada Line is a good train. It runs frequently and it lands you next to the terminal. If you have a backpack and a carry-on, take it. If you are travelling with two large cases each and a stroller, the platform changes and the walk from the station to the check-in desk can tip the balance towards a car at the kerb.
Destination Vancouver also lists taxis, rental cars, public transit, limousines and scheduled coach services as available at or near the cruise terminal (getting to and from YVR), so you will not be stuck for options. Our job is to make the version with the most predictability available at a fixed fare.
Embarkation morning: how to plan the drive
- Confirm which terminal and time your cruise line has given you. Boarding windows are set by the line, and arriving too early can mean waiting outdoors.
- Tell us your flight number if you are arriving the same day. The desk tracks the flight and adjusts the pickup.
- Leave a margin if you are sleeping in the city. A hotel pickup 90 minutes before your boarding window handles the usual loading and traffic variation.
- Check bag storage if you arrive early. Destination Vancouver lists CDS Baggage for storing luggage at the terminal or transferring it to YVR, and PorterGenie for pickup and drop-off storage at hotels and the terminal. These are third-party services, not ours, but they solve the early-arrival problem for some travellers.
- Use a name board if you are landing at YVR alone. It saves hunting for your driver among crowds on a busy ship-change day.

Vancouver has cruise departures through the year, not only in the summer. Check your own sailing date: the number of ships in port can vary a lot from one day to the next, and heavy days produce queues at the terminal approach.
Alaska sailings: what changes for your transfer
Alaska is the headline market from Canada Place. The season usually runs from late spring to early autumn, and Destination Vancouver also notes cruises leaving Vancouver for Hawaii and California. For your ground transfer, two things change on an Alaska itinerary.
First, the trip is often a week-long, multi-bag affair. People pack for glaciers and for dinner, and the cabin bags that fit on a plane may not fit in a small sedan alongside everything else. A Luxury SUV or Sprinter is the sensible choice for a family or small group. Book the vehicle class on luggage, not just headcount.
Second, many Alaska itineraries are one-way. You sail north from Vancouver and finish in a different port, or you fly home from Alaska. The pickup in Vancouver and the flight at the other end are separate problems. We can arrange the Vancouver legs and, through our partner network, the ground transfer at the other end too; see our worldwide chauffeur network.
Vancouver to Seattle: the cross-border cruise run
Some travellers sail from Seattle instead of Vancouver, or pair the two cities in a single trip. The straight-line facts: Canada Place to central Seattle is about 230 km (roughly 143 miles) by road, and the drive is usually three and a half to four and a half hours once you include the border crossing. The border queue is the variable, not the road.
Vancouver to Seattle is a one-way international trip. The desk confirms which licensed partner covers it and gives you the full journey time at booking, rather than a promise we cannot keep. Have passports ready for every passenger, because the driver cannot wait while a document is located. For entry rules, check the official government pages for your nationality before you travel.
Once in the United States, domestic point-to-point work is done by US-licensed partners, as it must be. See our Seattle car service and Seattle–Tacoma airport pages for the American side, and cross-border car service for how border trips from Canada are handled.
Whistler and the Sea-to-Sky corridor
A cruise holiday often leaves time for one extra day before or after the ship. The most common request from Canada Place is a run to Whistler, about 120 km north of downtown. The road is the Sea-to-Sky Highway, and the drive is usually around two hours, longer in winter or on a busy Friday. If your cruise itinerary follows a ski trip, the combination is practical: ship out of Vancouver, skis back at the airport.
Weather can close or slow the corridor. If conditions look uncertain, we would rather tell you in advance than leave you at a roadside. Our Whistler car service page covers the route, and the British Columbia hub links every BC city we serve.
Evening arrivals and a hotel night before boarding
Not every cruise guest arrives on a morning flight. Evening arrivals from Toronto, Calgary or Europe are common, and many guests spend the night in a downtown hotel before boarding. The practical sequence is YVR to hotel on night one, hotel to Canada Place on embarkation morning. Ask the desk for both trips in one booking and the same chauffeur partner can handle them, which is useful when a late flight needs a flexible pickup time.
For the airport detail, including how pickups work at YVR, see our Vancouver airport YVR page. For rides unrelated to the ship, the Vancouver car service page covers hourly bookings, restaurant dinners and business days.
If you are flying from Toronto
Toronto is the home of the Enroutz.ca desk and one of the main sources of cruise passengers heading west. A typical itinerary: the Toronto fleet drives you to Pearson, you fly across the country, and a Vancouver partner chauffeur takes you from YVR to Canada Place. It is a single booking with one point of contact on both ends. The Pearson Airport limo page explains the Toronto end.
Expect a long travel day. A flight from Toronto to Vancouver takes several hours, and a ship check-in that closes at a fixed time is not forgiving. We recommend arriving the day before if the alternative is a same-day connection with no margin.
Vehicles, luggage and special requests
- Executive Sedan: up to 3 passengers, 2 large and 2 cabin bags.
- First Class Sedan: up to 3 passengers, 2 large and 2 cabin bags.
- Luxury SUV: up to 6 passengers, 5 to 6 large bags.
- Executive Sprinter: up to 12 passengers and 12 bags, ideal for a family reunion on one sailing.
Child, toddler and booster seats are available on request at booking. Most vehicles carry Wi-Fi, water and phone chargers. Partner vehicles in British Columbia are no more than four model years old. Browse the fleet for the full classes.
Booking and business travel
For incentive groups, corporate cruises and event delegates, the corporate accounts option provides monthly invoicing. Larger parties can ask about group transportation with a coach. The cruise-ports hub lists every port we cover, and the Canada page lists Canadian cities.
If your trip begins at another port, see the cruise ports hub, or use the booker and enter any pickup worldwide; the desk confirms a fixed quote.
Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to drive from Vancouver Airport to Canada Place?
About 25 to 35 minutes outside rush hour for the roughly 15 km. Destination Vancouver gives approximately 30 minutes for the airport-to-downtown trip. Allow more during commuter peaks and when several ships are boarding.
Is the Canada Line train a good option to the cruise terminal?
Yes, for light luggage. The Canada Line links YVR with Waterfront Station, beside the cruise terminal, in about 26 minutes according to Destination Vancouver. A chauffeur is better when you carry heavy bags, travel with children or want a door-to-door pickup.
Can I book a Canada Place cruise terminal transfer in advance?
Yes. Enter your pickup, destination and flight number in the booker. It shows the exact fare for the vehicle you choose before you pay, and the desk confirms the ride with a local chauffeur partner.
Where do I get dropped off at Canada Place?
The driver goes to the passenger drop-off area used by your cruise line on the day and stops as close as port traffic allows. Porters take over from there. If your ship uses a different entrance than usual, the desk updates your driver in advance.
What if my flight into Vancouver is delayed?
We track the flight on every airport pickup. International arrivals include 60 minutes of free waiting after landing, and domestic arrivals include 30 minutes. If a long delay puts you near your ship's check-in cut-off, tell the desk straight away.
Can you take us from Vancouver to Seattle after the cruise?
Yes, as a one-way international trip. Canada Place to Seattle is about 230 km (143 miles), usually three and a half to four and a half hours with the border. The desk confirms the licensed partner and the journey time when you book.
Do you offer a day trip to Whistler before or after a cruise?
Yes. Whistler is about 120 km from downtown Vancouver, around two hours each way in good conditions. It can be booked as a transfer or as an hourly day with a driver.
What is the cancellation policy?
More than 72 hours' notice carries no charge. At 72 hours or less the charge is 10%, at 48 hours or less 50%, and at 24 hours or less or a no-show 100%, measured from the scheduled pickup time. Large events and conventions may have a different deadline, stated on your confirmation.
