Hartsfield-Jackson is an airport built around connections. Most of the people who pass through never leave the terminal, which is why the people who do leave, whether for a meeting in Buckhead, a convention at the Georgia World Congress Center or a long layover that is worth turning into a dinner, get the most out of a pre-booked car. If you are searching for an Atlanta airport car service, this page explains how a chauffeur works at ATL, where the distances really are, how MARTA compares and when the train is the better answer.
Atlanta airport car service from Enroutz.ca
Enroutz.ca is a Toronto-based chauffeur desk. For Atlanta, the ride is delivered by a vetted, licensed and commercially insured local chauffeur partner, while the booking, the confirmation and the invoice stay with the Toronto desk: one booking, one confirmation, one invoice and one point of contact, 24 hours a day. Trips inside the United States use US-licensed partners, because Canadian vehicles cannot do domestic point-to-point work there.
Toronto and Atlanta are linked by direct flights, and US Customs and Border Protection runs Preclearance in Toronto. The CBP Preclearance page lists Toronto Pearson and Billy Bishop and says preclearance travellers skip CBP and TSA inspection on arrival in the United States. That means a flight from Toronto lands in Atlanta as a straightforward arrival: collect your bags and meet your driver. For the first leg in Toronto, see Pearson airport limo.
What is the best way to get from Atlanta airport to downtown or Buckhead?

A pre-booked chauffeur is the simplest: a fixed fare, a named driver and a door-to-door ride. Downtown is about 16 km (10 miles) and Buckhead about 27 km (17 miles), usually 20 to 45 minutes. MARTA is the lowest-cost alternative: the rail station is inside the domestic terminal and runs to the city centre.
The distances are manageable. What changes the answer is the time of day. Atlanta's highway system funnels through the junction of I-75 and I-85, known as the Downtown Connector, and the I-285 Perimeter loop; at rush hour both slow sharply. A late-evening ride from ATL to Midtown is a pleasant 20 minutes. The same trip at 5:30 p.m. is double.
Domestic Terminal and International Terminal: where to meet
ATL has a Domestic Terminal, split into North and South baggage claim areas, and a separate International Terminal for arrivals from overseas. The Domestic Terminal is the one that most flights from Toronto and the rest of the United States use. According to MARTA, the Airport rail station is between the north and south baggage claim areas at the west end of the domestic terminal, and a free International Terminal shuttle bus leaves from outside baggage claim.

International arrivals clear inspection in the International Terminal before baggage claim. Because Atlanta handles pickup areas and ground-transportation rules in its own way, we do not publish a single door number here; your Enroutz.ca confirmation names the meeting point for your terminal, and the driver sends a message when you land. If you add a name-board meet-and-greet inside arrivals, with an alias on the board if you prefer privacy, see meet and greet.
Concourses T, A, B, C, D, E and F are reached from the main terminal by the underground Plane Train. You do not need to think about it when arriving: you take the train from the concourse to baggage claim, and the driver is waiting.
Distances and drive times from ATL
All distances are approximate road distances from the terminals. Times are typical ranges; Atlanta's traffic is highly variable.
| Trip | Distance | Typical drive time |
|---|---|---|
| ATL to downtown Atlanta | about 16 km (10 miles) | 20–45 minutes |
| ATL to Mercedes-Benz Stadium and the Georgia World Congress Center | about 16 km (10 miles) | 20–50 minutes |
| ATL to Midtown | about 19 km (12 miles) | 25–55 minutes |
| ATL to Buckhead | about 27 km (17 miles) | 30–65 minutes |
| ATL to Cumberland / Truist Park | about 32 km (20 miles) | 35–70 minutes |
| ATL to Perimeter Center / Sandy Springs | about 40 km (25 miles) | 40–80 minutes |
| ATL to Alpharetta | about 55 km (34 miles) | 55–100 minutes |
The booker shows the exact fare for your address and vehicle before you confirm, so you never have to estimate it.

MARTA is a good answer to many Atlanta trips and we will say so. The airport page describes the Airport station as the final station on the south end of the Red and Gold lines, and says weekday trains run from 4:45 a.m. to 1 a.m. and weekend trains from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. The standard fare is $2.50 per ride, with free transfers inside a time window, according to the fare page as of 2026. For downtown and Midtown hotels beside a station, with one bag, that is hard to beat.
Where MARTA falls short is the far side of the city. MARTA notes that after rush hour, travelling from the Airport to Buckhead, Medical Center, Dunwoody, Sandy Springs or North Springs requires a transfer: take the Gold train to Lindbergh Center, then a Red train. That is workable with a day bag. It is unpleasant after a long-haul flight with two large cases. A late arrival after the trains stop at 1 a.m. has no rail alternative at all.
Buckhead, Midtown, Downtown: choosing the right pick-up plan

- Downtown: hotels, the Georgia World Congress Center, Mercedes-Benz Stadium and Centennial Olympic Park. The shortest run from the airport.
- Midtown: offices, the Woodruff Arts Center and many hotels; slightly further, with the Connector as the main road.
- Buckhead: the luxury shopping and hotel district to the north, about 27 km from the airport and the farthest of the three. A car is the most direct way here.
- Perimeter Center and Sandy Springs: large corporate offices north of the I-285 loop.
- Cumberland and Cobb County: north-west, home to a stadium and large offices.
- Alpharetta: the north Fulton technology corridor, a long run from ATL.
If you are bringing a delegation, a single booking can cover arrivals at several times of day. See meetings, incentives and conferences, corporate accounts and the corporate chauffeur service. City information is on the Atlanta car service page.
The long-layover trip
Atlanta is a hub, and long layovers are common. If you have 5 or more hours between flights, a short round trip to Downtown or Midtown is possible, but only if you plan it. The sequence matters: allow time to clear inspection if you arrive internationally, to collect checked bags if they are not through-checked, and to return for your next security screening. A 5-hour layover usually supports a 90-minute trip at most.
The honest advice is to take MARTA if you only want to see Downtown and have light bags, because the train runs at fixed intervals and avoids traffic. A chauffeur makes sense for a layover that includes a meeting, because the driver can wait outside and return you in time. For this use, ask about an hourly chauffeur; the driver is yours for the booked time.
Vehicles for ATL pickups
All classes are "or similar", with the exact model confirmed at booking.
- Executive Sedan: Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Cadillac CT6 or Lyriq or similar; up to 3 passengers, 2 large bags and 2 cabin bags.
- First Class Sedan: Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series or similar; up to 3 passengers, same bag allowance.
- Luxury SUV: Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon Denali or similar; up to 6 passengers and 5–6 large bags.
- Executive Sprinter: Mercedes-Benz Sprinter; up to 12 passengers and 12 bags.
- On request: mini-coach and coach (20 to 56 seats), Maybach, Rolls-Royce, stretch limousine and armoured vehicles, with availability confirmed at booking.
See the fleet page. Partner vehicles in the United States are no more than four model years old, and up to seven for Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Maybach. Wi-Fi, water and phone chargers are in most vehicles, and child, toddler and booster seats are available on request.
Arriving from overseas: entry rules at ATL
Passengers arriving from Europe or the Middle East clear US inspection at Atlanta. Visitors from Visa Waiver Program countries need an approved ESTA before boarding; the CBP ESTA page says you can apply at any time before travel and recommends doing so as soon as you start preparing, and that an e-passport is required. Approval does not guarantee entry, because officers decide admissibility on arrival.
Allow for the immigration hall. We hold the car for 60 minutes after an international landing at no charge, and the driver tracks the flight, so there is no need to hurry through the line.
Events, conventions and sport
Atlanta hosts conventions throughout the year at the Georgia World Congress Center, and large sporting and music events at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. On event days, road closures around Downtown change the best pickup point. The desk plans these in advance; see event transportation and trade show transportation. Cancellation deadlines for large events may differ and are stated on the confirmation.
Waiting time and cancellations
Free waiting is 60 minutes after an international landing and 30 minutes after a domestic landing. More than 72 hours' notice means no charge; at 72 hours or less the fee is 10%; at 48 hours or less, 50%; at 24 hours or less or on a no-show, 100%, measured from the scheduled pickup time.
Chauffeurs do not photograph clients or post about trips, and NDAs are signed on request. Enroutz.ca is a chauffeur service, not a security company: no armed drivers and no bodyguards. For other airports, see the airports hub, the USA hub, Orlando MCO and Dallas DFW.
Frequently asked questions
How much is a car service from Atlanta airport to downtown?
The fare depends on the vehicle and the drop-off address. The booker shows the exact all-in fare for your address and vehicle before you pay. ATL to downtown is about 16 km (10 miles).
How far is Buckhead from Atlanta airport?
About 27 km (17 miles), usually 30 to 65 minutes by car depending on traffic.
Is MARTA a good way to get from ATL to the city?
Yes, for light travellers. The airport station is inside the domestic terminal, the fare is $2.50 as of 2026, and trains run from early morning to 1 a.m. It is less convenient for Buckhead after rush hour, when a transfer at Lindbergh Center is needed.
Where does my driver meet me at ATL?
Your confirmation names the meeting point for your terminal, and the driver messages you after you collect your bags. Arrivals from overseas use the International Terminal.
Do I clear US customs in Atlanta if I fly from Toronto?
Toronto Pearson and Billy Bishop have CBP Preclearance, so inspection happens before boarding. The CBP page says preclearance travellers skip CBP and TSA inspection on arrival in the United States.
Does the driver wait if my flight is late?
Yes. The driver tracks the flight. Free waiting is 60 minutes after an international landing and 30 minutes after a domestic landing.
Can I use a chauffeur on a long layover?
Yes, if you have enough time. Book an hourly chauffeur and allow for inspection, bags and security on return. A layover of 5 hours or more is the practical minimum.
Can you take a large group?
Yes. The Executive Sprinter carries up to 12 passengers, and a mini-coach or coach (20 to 56 seats) is available on request.
