O'Hare is a very large airport with a very simple problem: it is far from where most visitors want to go. The Loop is about 28 km (17 miles) to the south-east, the road is the Kennedy Expressway, and the Kennedy at five in the afternoon is one of the slowest roads in the American Midwest. If you are searching for an O'Hare car service or a Chicago airport limo that is waiting when you land, this page explains how a pre-booked chauffeur works at ORD, where drivers meet you at each terminal, what the real alternatives are and when the CTA Blue Line is the smarter choice.
O'Hare airport car service from Enroutz.ca
Enroutz.ca is a Toronto-based chauffeur desk. In Chicago the ride is delivered by a vetted, licensed and commercially insured local chauffeur partner, while the booking, the confirmation and the invoice stay with the Toronto desk: one booking, one confirmation, one invoice and one point of contact, 24 hours a day. Trips inside the United States are delivered by US-licensed partners, because Canadian vehicles cannot do domestic point-to-point work there.
For a Toronto traveller, Chicago is a short flight and a one-hour time difference. Chicago is on Central time, one hour behind Toronto, so a mid-morning departure from Pearson lands before lunch by the clock on the wall. If you are starting in Toronto, the same desk handles the first leg; see Pearson airport limo.
What is the best way to get from O'Hare to downtown Chicago?

The best choice depends on the hour and the luggage. A pre-booked chauffeur gives a fixed fare, a named driver and no queue. The CTA Blue Line is the lowest-cost option, runs 24 hours a day and takes about 40 to 45 minutes to downtown. O'Hare to the Loop is about 28 km (17 miles).
The Blue Line is genuinely good and, outside rush hour, it often matches the car on time. The car wins when you have more than one bag, when the weather is bad, when you are going to a hotel that is not near a station, or when you arrive late and want to be asleep by midnight.
Terminals 1, 2, 3 and 5: how O'Hare is laid out
O'Hare has four terminals. According to the Chicago Department of Aviation, the free Airport Transit System (ATS) train links Terminals 1, 2, 3 and 5 with the Multi-Modal Facility, which handles rental cars, economy parking and Pace and Metra services. Terminals 1, 2 and 3 are connected by walkways. Terminal 5 is a separate building, and the ATS is the usual way to reach it.

That layout matters if your plans change. If your flight arrives at Terminal 5 and your colleague lands at Terminal 3, one pickup is not enough; either they ride the ATS to meet you, or the driver goes to both. Our desk plans multi-flight pickups as a single booking, and you can see how in group transportation.
Check your terminal on your boarding pass. International airlines are spread across terminals at O'Hare, so we do not assume a terminal from the airline name; the driver's message confirms it on the day.
Where your driver meets you
The airport's taxi, limousine and rideshare page sets the rules for pre-arranged cars:

- Limousines and pre-arranged vehicles meet passengers in designated areas on the lower-level centre lane (lane 2).
- Black car pickups are available on the lower level of all terminals.
- Some services have drivers meet you in baggage claim. Livery parking is directly across from each terminal, roughly a 5 to 7 minute walk.
- Typical waits for a pre-arranged car are 5 to 20 minutes, depending on airport traffic.
The airport's drop-off and pick-up page adds that curbside waiting is prohibited, which is why early drivers wait in the cell phone lot at 560 North Bessie Coleman Drive and come to the kerb when you are ready. Rideshare pickups are on the upper level at Terminals 2 and 3.
Your Enroutz.ca confirmation tells you which door to use, and the driver sends a message when you land. For a name-board meet-and-greet inside arrivals, with an alias name if you want privacy, see meet and greet.
Distances and drive times from O'Hare
All distances are approximate road distances from the terminals. Times are typical ranges; the booker uses live traffic.

| O'Hare to the Magnificent Mile and River North | about 29 km (18 miles) | 30–70 minutes |
| O'Hare to McCormick Place | about 33 km (20 miles) | 35–80 minutes |
| O'Hare to Rosemont (convention centre and hotels) | about 5 km (3 miles) | 8–20 minutes |
| O'Hare to Evanston | about 24 km (15 miles) | 25–50 minutes |
| O'Hare to Oak Brook | about 30 km (19 miles) | 30–60 minutes |
| O'Hare to Midway airport | about 40 km (25 miles) | 40–80 minutes |
| O'Hare to Milwaukee | about 150 km (95 miles) | 1 hour 45 minutes–2 hours 30 minutes |
The booker shows the exact fare for your address and vehicle before you confirm. Long transfers such as Milwaukee are quoted the same way; see city-to-city car service.

The Chicago Transit Authority's airport page says Blue Line trains run 24 hours a day, seven days a week, that the normal O'Hare-to-downtown trip takes 40 to 45 minutes and that the fare is "$5 or less". The O'Hare station is on the lower level of the parking garage, reached from Terminals 1, 2 and 3 through the pedestrian tunnels; from Terminal 5, ride the ATS first. If you have one bag and a hotel next to a station in the Loop, the train is a good answer and we would tell you so.
The Kennedy Expressway, explained
The Kennedy is the Chicago name for the combined I-90 and I-94 corridor between O'Hare and the Loop. It has reversible express lanes in the middle, a long stretch of construction in most years and a commuter peak that runs from about 3:30 p.m. to well after 6 p.m. A trip that takes half an hour at midnight can take over an hour at rush hour. The drivers know the alternatives: the Edens, Lake Shore Drive and the surface streets, and they choose by live conditions.
In January and February, snow and de-icing delays at the airport add another layer. Flight tracking is more than a courtesy: the driver sees the delay and the pickup moves with you, so you never pay for a car you did not use.
Chicago for first-time visitors
- The Loop: the downtown core inside the elevated rail line; most business hotels and the financial district.
- River North and the Magnificent Mile: the shopping and hotel strip north of the river.
- West Loop: restaurants and the Fulton Market district, a growing hotel area.
- Streeterville and Navy Pier: by the lake, close to hospitals and the convention traffic.
- South Loop and McCormick Place: McCormick Place, one of the largest convention centres in North America, sits here; trade-show weeks fill the hotels. See the trade-shows hub and trade show transportation.
- Union Station: the Amtrak and commuter rail hub; the Chicago Union Station page covers pickups.
Beyond the city, the north-shore suburbs, Oak Brook and the western corridor are common destinations for corporate visitors. A booking with a chauffeur and an hourly arrangement works well for these multi-stop days; see hourly chauffeur.
Vehicles for O'Hare pickups
All classes are "or similar", with the exact model confirmed at booking.
- Executive Sedan: Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Cadillac CT6 or Lyriq or similar; up to 3 passengers, 2 large bags and 2 cabin bags.
- First Class Sedan: Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series or similar; up to 3 passengers, same bag allowance.
- Luxury SUV: Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon Denali or similar; up to 6 passengers and 5–6 large bags.
- Executive Sprinter: Mercedes-Benz Sprinter; up to 12 passengers and 12 bags.
- On request: mini-coach and coach (20 to 56 seats), Maybach, Rolls-Royce, stretch limousine and armoured vehicles, with availability confirmed at booking.
See the fleet page. Partner vehicles in the United States are no more than four model years old, and up to seven for Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Maybach. Wi-Fi, water and phone chargers are in most vehicles, and child, toddler and booster seats are available on request.
Arriving from overseas: entry rules at O'Hare
Travellers flying in from Europe or the Middle East usually clear US inspection at O'Hare itself. Visitors from Visa Waiver Program countries need an approved ESTA before boarding; the US Customs and Border Protection ESTA page says you can apply at any time before travel and should apply as soon as you begin preparing, and that an e-passport is required. ESTA approval does not guarantee entry.
Add the immigration queue to your planning. We hold the car for 60 minutes after an international landing at no charge, which covers most arrival halls, and the driver tracks the flight so there is no need to rush through the line.
Business travel, events and groups
Chicago hosts large conventions throughout the year. If you are bringing a delegation, a single booking can cover arrivals, hotel transfers and event days; see meetings, incentives and conferences, event transportation and the corporate chauffeur service. Corporate accounts with monthly invoicing are available through corporate accounts.
Waiting time and cancellations
Free waiting is 60 minutes after an international landing and 30 minutes after a domestic one. More than 72 hours' notice means no charge; at 72 hours or less the fee is 10%; at 48 hours or less, 50%; at 24 hours or less or on a no-show, 100%, measured from the scheduled pickup time. Large events and conventions can carry a different deadline, stated on the confirmation.
More on Chicago and the Midwest
For hotel and city transfers see Chicago car service. For other airports see the airports hub and the USA hub; Detroit is the nearest Midwest airport page we cover. For Toronto departures, the airport limo Toronto page explains the first leg.
Chauffeurs do not photograph clients or post about trips, and NDAs are signed on request. Enroutz.ca is a chauffeur service, not a security company: no armed drivers and no bodyguards, and we work alongside a client's own security team.
