What is the best way to get a Toronto FBO car service?

Book a chauffeur in advance through the online booker, giving the aircraft registration, the FBO and the scheduled landing time. Enroutz.ca operates Toronto, the GTA and Ontario from its own desk with its own fleet, tracks the aircraft and quotes a fixed fare before you pay.

Toronto is the one place on this site where the car and the chauffeur belong to Enroutz.ca. The dispatch desk is in the city, the vehicles are ours and the people who answer the phone are the people who send the car. For a Toronto FBO car service that matters, because private arrivals change quickly: a tailwind brings the landing forward by twenty minutes, a customs officer is late, the principal decides to go straight to a meeting.

This page covers the business aviation airports a visitor to Toronto is likely to use, what each one is good for, what the airports themselves say about rules and hours, and how the transfer works from the aircraft steps to the hotel door.

The Oshawa and Hamilton figures are approximate road distances for planning. We have not been able to confirm FBO operators or customs arrangements for those two airports from official sources, so we do not name them here. Ask your charter operator which handler is booked, and give the name to the desk.

Pearson: Signature Aviation and the business aviation side of the airport

Toronto Pearson is the airport most private jets use. Signature Aviation's own website lists its Toronto Pearson FBO at 2450 Derry Road East, Toronto, Ontario L5S 1B2. The page says the FBO is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with onsite customs and immigration available only during limited hours from Monday to Friday. It also lists ground support including deicing, a heated hangar in winter, a dedicated ramp, a Jet A fuelling line, conference rooms, shower facilities and short- and long-term vehicle parking. The same page states that overnight hangar or ramp parking is not offered, with ramp space and the heated hangar available for day use only.

For the passenger, three points follow from that:

  1. Customs hours matter. A flight that lands at the weekend or outside the limited hours may need a different plan for clearance. Your operator arranges it; tell the desk the clearance plan so the chauffeur waits at the right place.
  2. The FBO is not the commercial terminal. The business aviation side of Pearson has its own gate and kerb. The commercial terminals are covered separately on the Pearson airport limo page.
  3. A short stay is normal. If the aircraft does not stay overnight, the crew will reposition it. Your chauffeur can take the crew to a hotel on request.

Pearson to Union Station is about 27 km, usually 30 to 50 minutes. The 401, the 427 and the Gardiner Expressway are the usual corridors, and the evening peak on the 401 is the usual cause of delay. The booker shows the exact fare for your address and vehicle before you confirm.

Billy Bishop: what the airport allows and who can use it

Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport sits on the island at the foot of Bathurst Street, at 2 Eireann Quay. Its pilot guidance on the airport's website is unusually direct: all jet aircraft, except medevac flights, and certain propeller aircraft are prohibited. A private jet cannot land there.

The same site shows that operations are limited by time of day. Regular operating hours run from 07:00 to 22:00 local time. Operations are restricted from 06:45 to 06:59 and from 22:01 to 23:00, and prohibited from 23:01 to 06:44, apart from emergencies and medevac flights. The airport's landing fees page names two FBOs, Porter FBO and Stolport FBO, and says each charges its own ramp handling fee, so you should contact the FBO you plan to use.

If your itinerary includes a turboprop charter to Billy Bishop, the chauffeur meets you at the FBO you name. If you want to be in downtown Toronto and your aircraft is a jet, the closest realistic option is Pearson. Many people are surprised by this, so check before you build a schedule around the island.

Passengers who fly commercial into Billy Bishop can also see the Toronto Billy Bishop airport page.

Oshawa and Hamilton: when an alternate airport makes sense

Some charters use Oshawa or Hamilton because of slot availability, runway length, weather or the destination. If your passengers are heading east to Durham Region or Prince Edward County, Oshawa may save road time. If they are heading to Niagara, Burlington or the Hamilton area, Hamilton is closer. For a final destination in downtown Toronto, an alternate adds roughly an hour of driving in each direction, and the chauffeur desk will tell you if the plan is sound.

The Hamilton YHM airport page covers the commercial terminal at Hamilton. Tell the desk the airport, the FBO and the landing time, and the confirmation states the meeting point.

How customs and the Canadian entry rules affect a private arrival

The Canada Border Services Agency runs the CANPASS Private Aircraft program for members flying private aircraft from the United States into Canada. The program's page says everyone on the aircraft must be a CANPASS member, including the pilot and family members, that membership is valid for five years and that members may land at any Canadian airport of entry whenever the airport is open for landing. Non-members clear customs through the usual reporting arrangements, which the operator and crew arrange.

For foreign passengers, the Government of Canada's eTA information says that visa-exempt foreign nationals need an electronic travel authorization to fly to or transit through a Canadian airport, that US citizens are exempt and must carry proper identification, and that lawful permanent residents of the US are exempt but must carry proof of status and a valid passport. The page does not state whether the requirement applies to private or charter flights, so confirm with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada or the CBSA before you travel. Canadian citizens, including dual citizens, need a Canadian passport to travel to or through Canada.

What a Toronto FBO transfer looks like from landing to hotel

A good private arrival is quiet and short. The sequence runs like this:

  1. The desk tracks the aircraft from departure and watches for early arrival or diversion.
  2. The chauffeur is in position before the scheduled landing, at the FBO car park or the point the FBO allows.
  3. Passengers clear customs where required, then meet the chauffeur in the lounge or at the vehicle.
  4. Bags are loaded, an alias name is used if you asked for one, and the car leaves.
  5. The chauffeur takes the route that suits the day's traffic and keeps the desk informed.

The standard waiting rules apply: on international arrivals 60 minutes free after landing, on domestic arrivals 30 minutes, and on other pickups 15 minutes. Flight tracking covers every airport pickup. A name-board meet-and-greet inside the lounge is an add-on. Child, toddler and booster seats are available on request, and most vehicles carry Wi-Fi, water and phone chargers.

Vehicles for a private jet arrival in Toronto

Each class is "or similar", with the exact model confirmed at booking.

  • The Executive Sedan (Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Cadillac CT6 or Lyriq or similar) and the First Class Sedan (Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series or similar) both take three passengers with two large and two cabin bags.
  • The Luxury SUV (Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon Denali or similar) is the usual choice for a principal and team, with room for six and five or six large bags.
  • The Executive Sprinter (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter) carries up to 12 passengers and 12 bags.
  • Mini-coaches and coaches seat 20 to 56 on request.
  • Maybach, Rolls-Royce, stretch limousine and armoured vehicles can be arranged, with availability confirmed at booking.

Because the vehicles are ours, the desk can send an Executive Sprinter for a team and a First Class Sedan for the principal on the same booking. The fleet page has more.

Honest advice: the UP Express is a sound choice if you land at a commercial terminal with one bag and want the lowest-cost quick route downtown, but it runs from the airport's train station and not from the business aviation side. For an FBO arrival, a chauffeur or a car arranged by your operator is the realistic choice.

From the FBO to the hotel, the boardroom or the studio

Most Toronto private arrivals go to one of a few places: a downtown hotel, a meeting in the Financial District, an event in the city, a film or television set. The desk can book the full programme:

If the aircraft arrives from the United States and the passengers plan to travel on by road, the cross-border car service page explains how the Toronto desk runs trips between Toronto and the USA from Toronto.

Privacy and security

Chauffeurs do not photograph clients or post about trips, and NDAs are signed on request. The VIP and celebrity chauffeur page describes how arrivals are planned for public figures. Enroutz.ca is a chauffeur service, not a security company: no armed drivers and no bodyguards, and the chauffeur works alongside the client's own security team.

Frequently asked questions

Which FBO can I name at Toronto Pearson?

Signature Aviation lists a Toronto Pearson FBO at 2450 Derry Road East on its own website. If your charter operator has booked a different handler, give the name to the desk and the confirmation states the meeting point.

Can a private jet land at Billy Bishop airport?

No. The airport's pilot guidance prohibits all jet aircraft except medevac flights, and certain propeller aircraft. Private jets for Toronto use Pearson or an alternate airport.

How far is Toronto Pearson from downtown?

About 27 km to Union Station, usually 30 to 50 minutes. The booker shows the exact fare for your address and vehicle before you confirm.

Does Enroutz.ca use its own cars at Toronto FBOs?

Yes. In Toronto, the Greater Toronto Area and Ontario, the ride is operated from the Toronto desk with the Enroutz.ca fleet and chauffeurs.

Can the chauffeur wait if the private flight is late?

Yes. The desk tracks the aircraft. International arrivals receive 60 minutes of free waiting after landing, domestic arrivals 30 minutes and other pickups 15 minutes. A longer wait is quoted before it applies.

Do I need an eTA to fly to Toronto on a private jet?

Visa-exempt foreign nationals other than US citizens need an eTA to fly to or transit through a Canadian airport, according to the Government of Canada. The page does not say how this applies to private flights, so confirm with the operator, IRCC or the CBSA.

Can I have an alias on the name board?

Yes. The name-board meet and greet is an add-on, and an alias name can be used for privacy on request.

What is the cancellation policy?

If you cancel more than 72 hours before the scheduled pickup there is no charge. At 72 hours or less it is 10%; at 48 hours or less, 50%; at 24 hours or less, or if nobody meets the driver, 100%. Large events and conventions may carry a different deadline, stated on your confirmation.
