How do I book a limo service or black car service in Ottawa?
Enter your Ottawa pickup and destination in the online booker, choose a vehicle class and see the fixed fare before you pay. Ottawa is in Ontario, so the Toronto desk books, confirms and invoices the trip, and confirms how the vehicle is arranged for your date.
Ottawa is where Canada's federal government sits, so visitors arrive with unusual purposes: ministry meetings, diplomatic visits, parliamentary committees, conferences at the downtown convention centre, family weekends at the museums, and winter trips to skate on the Rideau Canal. What they share is a need for a vehicle that is on time, discreet and straightforward to book from another country.
The Toronto desk works as one point of contact for the entire province. Enroutz.ca takes a pickup anywhere in Ontario, quotes a fixed fare, and keeps a single confirmation and invoice. For Ottawa trips the desk confirms with you how the vehicle and chauffeur are positioned for your date, so that you know before you pay who is collecting you and where. Chauffeurs and vehicles are licensed and commercially insured.
Ottawa for the first-time visitor
Ottawa stands on the south bank of the Ottawa River, directly across from Gatineau, which is in Québec. The two cities form one metropolitan area, which is why French and English are both heard everywhere and why a short drive over a bridge can put you in a different province. Ottawa Tourism describes the city as home to Canada's government, with national museums, festivals nearly every weekend, and a population of over one million residents.

Four areas matter to most visits:
- Parliament Hill and the surrounding Parliamentary Precinct, the symbolic centre of the capital.
- The ByWard Market and downtown, with hotels, restaurants and the Rideau Centre shopping complex.
- The Rideau Canal, which runs through the middle of the city and doubles as a skating rink in winter.
- Gatineau, across the river, home to the Canadian Museum of History.
Diplomatic missions are scattered through the central neighbourhoods and the quiet residential streets of Rockcliffe Park. A chauffeur who knows where an embassy's visitor entrance is, and which side street the car must use, saves a surprising amount of time on the day.
Toronto to Ottawa by road: distance, time and the alternatives
The usual drive is Highway 401 east from Toronto, then Highway 416 north into Ottawa. Ottawa Tourism gives the distance as about 450 km, or 280 miles, and the time as about 4.5 to 5 hours, depending on traffic. The 401 corridor out of Toronto is heavy during weekday peaks, typically 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 7 p.m., so the day and the hour of departure matter.

Here is how the realistic ways of making the trip compare.
| Option | Typical time | Cost note | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flight (about 1 hour in the air) | Door to door usually the shortest on a weekday | Varies by season and airline | Solo business travellers on a tight schedule |
| VIA Rail from Union Station | About 4.5 to 5 hours, with several daily departures | Varies by fare class, shared | Travellers who want to work or rest with onboard Wi-Fi |
| Scheduled intercity bus | Usually 5 to 6 hours | Lowest | Budget-conscious solo travellers |
| Rental car | About 4.5 to 5 hours of your own driving | Rental cost plus fuel and parking | Travellers who want to explore on the way |
| Private chauffeur (Enroutz.ca) | About 4.5 to 5 hours, with stops as you wish | Fixed fare via the booker | Groups of two to six, executives who work en route, door-to-door pickups with bags |
An honest assessment: for one person on a tight schedule, the flight is quicker and the train is the more relaxing option. A chauffeur starts to win when two or more people are travelling together, when you need to be at an address in Ottawa rather than at a station, when you carry heavy luggage or equipment, or when you want to work in the car while someone else drives.
For further detail on long-distance rides, see our city-to-city car service page, which sets out how intercity trips from Toronto are planned and what to expect on the road.
Planning the drive from Toronto
A four-and-a-half hour drive is long enough to deserve a plan. Some suggestions from the way we dispatch:

- Leave outside the peaks. An early start avoids the worst of the 401 in the Greater Toronto Area. A late morning departure is fine if the meeting in Ottawa is in the afternoon.
- Work in the car. Most vehicles carry Wi-Fi, water and phone chargers, so the trip can double as a working session or a rest.
- Choose your breaks. The corridor passes through Kingston and a number of highway service centres. Tell the chauffeur if you prefer a particular stop.
- Brief the desk on your return. If the same chauffeur is to drive you back, state the time you will finish in Ottawa and the destination in Toronto.
The booker shows an exact fare for your addresses, vehicle and time. A one-way booking is a single fixed fare, and so is a return, and you will see both before you confirm.
Ottawa International Airport (YOW): how pickups work
Ottawa's airport, officially the Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport, is south of downtown. The airport's ground transportation page sets out the arrangements for each type of service. For pre-arranged service, such as a chauffeur-driven luxury vehicle, the airport lists Pillars 12 and 13 at the curb furthest from the terminal. Hotel shuttles use Pillars 13 to 15, and charter buses and Park'N Fly use Pillars 15 and 16. Unless otherwise indicated, passengers are picked up at the curb outside Level 1. The airport also asks that vehicles not wait or park at the arrivals curb and that drivers wait in the Cell Phone Lot until their passenger is ready. See the Ottawa airport ground transportation page.

In practice, this means your pickup is timed to your arrival, not to a long wait at the curb. Your confirmation explains how to reach the chauffeur once you have your bags. The free waiting time after landing is 60 minutes on international arrivals and 30 minutes on domestic flights, and the flight is tracked live so the pickup follows the real landing time.
Public transport is useful and worth knowing about. The same page says Route 105 runs 24 hours a day, every 30 minutes, between Uplands Drive, serving the airport, and St-Laurent Station, and that Line 4 of the O-Train connects the airport with South Keys station. Ottawa Tourism describes the O-Train as getting you downtown near Parliament Hill and the ByWard Market in about 25 to 30 minutes. Our dedicated Ottawa airport page and the airports hub cover the airport side in more detail.
Rogers Centre Ottawa: the convention venue formerly known as Shaw Centre
If you are travelling to Ottawa for a conference, note that the downtown convention centre at 55 Colonel By Drive was known as the Shaw Centre until October 2024, when it was renamed Rogers Centre Ottawa after Rogers Communications acquired Shaw. It is not the same venue as the Rogers Centre baseball stadium in Toronto, a confusion that has caught out more than one delegate.
According to the venue's own information, it sits on the corner of Daly Avenue and Colonel By Drive, is connected directly to The Westin Ottawa, stands beside CF Rideau Centre, and has more than 6,000 hotel rooms within walking distance, about 1,500 of them within one block. The airport is about a 20-minute drive away, and visitors can also take Line 4 of the O-Train from the airport, change to Line 1 and get off at Rideau Station. See the Rogers Centre Ottawa visitor page.
For delegates, the practical questions are airport arrival, hotel to venue, and the evening events. Our meetings, incentives and conferences service explains how delegate arrivals, speaker movements and on-site dispatch are organised, and the corporate chauffeur service page covers recurring corporate travel. A convention, an association congress or a trade event may carry its own cancellation deadline, which will be stated on your confirmation.
Government, diplomatic and high-profile visits
Ottawa receives a steady stream of officials, delegations and public figures. A good chauffeur in this environment is unobtrusive, punctual and clear on boundaries.
- Discretion. Chauffeurs do not photograph clients or post about trips, and NDAs are signed on request. Name boards at the airport can carry an alias.
- Coordination. Where your principal has a protocol officer, a security detail or an assistant, the desk can agree pickup points and timings with them in advance.
- What we are not. Enroutz.ca is a chauffeur service, not a security company. We do not provide armed drivers or bodyguards. We work alongside a client's own security team; see our page on executive protection transport.
- Premium vehicles. Maybach, Rolls-Royce, stretch limousine and armoured vehicles can be arranged on request, with availability confirmed at booking.
For further detail on how discretion works in practice, read the VIP and celebrity chauffeur page.
The Ottawa seasons: tulips, skating and winter
Ottawa is a city of strong seasonal events, and each one changes how transport should be planned.
Spring: the Canadian Tulip Festival. The festival is held at Commissioners Park by Dow's Lake and ran from 8 to 18 May in 2026. Organisers have said they hope to bring back the drone show for their Diamond Jubilee in 2027, but no 2027 dates were published at the time of writing. See the Canadian Tulip Festival site for updates. Traffic near Dow's Lake is heavy on festival weekends.
Winter: the Rideau Canal Skateway. The National Capital Commission describes the skateway as a 7.8 km skating rink through the centre of the capital on a UNESCO World Heritage canal. It is free and open around the clock when conditions allow. The season usually runs from January to early March, but it depends on the weather. See the Rideau Canal Skateway page.
Winterlude. The winter festival is usually held in early February, and Ottawa Tourism listed the 2027 dates as still to be announced.
A winter trip needs extra time. Highway 416 and the 401 can be affected by snow, and a chauffeur will adjust speed and departure time rather than risk a late arrival. If your trip is time-critical, build in a margin and let the desk know your hard deadline.
Crossing to Gatineau and the Québec side
Several bridges link Ottawa and Gatineau, and the trip across the river is short. The most common reason for a visitor to cross is the Canadian Museum of History, which is on the Gatineau side. Trips that cross the river are simple to book from the Ottawa side. If you prefer a French-speaking chauffeur, request it at booking; the desk confirms what is available for your date, and cannot promise it in every case.
If you plan a longer trip east, Montréal and the wider Québec page explain how rides in that province are delivered by a vetted partner and booked and invoiced through the Toronto desk.
Vehicles for Ottawa trips
All vehicles are "or similar", and the exact model is confirmed at booking. The fleet page shows the full range.
- Executive Sedan: Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Cadillac CT6 or Lyriq or similar, up to 3 passengers, 2 large and 2 cabin bags.
- First Class Sedan: Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series or similar, up to 3 passengers, 2 large and 2 cabin bags.
- Luxury SUV: Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon Denali or similar, up to 6 passengers, 5 to 6 large bags.
- Executive Sprinter: Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, up to 12 passengers and 12 bags. A mini-coach or coach of 20 to 56 seats is available on request.
For a long drive, passengers often prefer the First Class Sedan for the rear-seat space or the Luxury SUV for the luggage. Child, toddler and booster seats are available at booking.
Fares, waiting and cancellation
The online booker shows an exact fixed fare for your pickup, destination and vehicle, so you know the figure before payment. There are no rate tables on this site.
Cancellation, measured from the scheduled pickup: more than 72 hours' notice, no charge; 72 hours or less, 10%; 48 hours or less, 50%; 24 hours or less or a no-show, 100%. Conventions and large events may carry a different deadline, written on the confirmation. For recurring Ottawa trips, corporate accounts offer monthly invoicing with cost-centre references.
Where Ottawa fits in a wider Canada trip
Ottawa is usually one stop of several. Many travellers combine it with black car service in Toronto and Niagara Falls. The Ontario overview covers the province, the Canada hub lists the cities served nationwide, and the Ottawa train station page covers rail arrivals from Toronto and Montréal.
Frequently asked questions
How far is Ottawa from Toronto by car?
About 450 km, or 280 miles. The usual route is Highway 401 east and Highway 416 north, and the drive takes about 4.5 to 5 hours depending on traffic.
Is a chauffeur better than the train from Toronto to Ottawa?
For one person travelling station to station, VIA Rail takes about the same time and can be more relaxing. A chauffeur is better for groups, heavy luggage, door-to-door pickups or when you want to work in the car.
Where do I meet my chauffeur at Ottawa airport?
Ottawa airport lists Pillars 12 and 13 for pre-arranged service, and it asks drivers not to wait at the arrivals curb. Your confirmation will say exactly where and how to reach the chauffeur.
What is the Shaw Centre called now?
It was renamed Rogers Centre Ottawa in October 2024 and is at 55 Colonel By Drive. It is not the same venue as the Rogers Centre baseball stadium in Toronto.
Can the chauffeur wait while I attend meetings in Ottawa?
Yes. For multi-meeting days, ask for the hourly chauffeur service. See the hourly chauffeur page for how hours are counted and waiting is handled.
Do you provide security or armed drivers?
No. Enroutz.ca is a chauffeur service, not a security company. We work alongside a client's own security team.
When does the Rideau Canal Skateway open?
It usually runs from January to early March, but it depends on weather and ice. The National Capital Commission publishes ice conditions.
How much does a Toronto to Ottawa transfer cost?
Enroutz.ca does not publish rate tables. The online booker shows the exact fixed fare for your addresses and vehicle before you pay.
Can you drive me from Ottawa to Montréal?
Yes. The desk arranges it as one booking and confirms who drives each part. Rides in Québec are delivered by a vetted, licensed and commercially insured local chauffeur partner and are booked, confirmed and invoiced by the Toronto desk.
