Dubai International (DXB) is a three-terminal airport about 15 km from Downtown Dubai, and it is also one of the busiest places on earth to arrive at after midnight. A pre-booked Dubai airport transfer gives you a named driver, a tracked flight and a fixed fare, which matters most when you land tired, in a new time zone, with a meeting the next morning. This page explains the terminals, the pickup, the routes and the honest alternatives.
What is the best Dubai airport transfer from DXB?
For most visitors, a pre-booked chauffeur is the most predictable Dubai airport transfer: a named driver, flight tracking and a fixed fare quoted before you pay. The Dubai Metro and taxis are lower-cost alternatives for light luggage. Downtown Dubai is about 15 km from DXB.
Enroutz.ca is a Toronto-based black car and chauffeur service. In Dubai the ride is delivered by a vetted, licensed and commercially insured local chauffeur partner and booked, confirmed and invoiced by the Enroutz.ca desk in Toronto: one booking, one confirmation, one invoice and one contact available around the clock. Partner vehicles are no more than four model years old, and Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Maybach are accepted up to seven. We do not own vehicles or offices in the UAE.
This page is written for the traveller flying from Toronto, the USA or Europe into Dubai, and for the Gulf traveller who wants the same standard of ride at home. For the wider city see the Dubai chauffeur service page.
Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3: which one will you use?
DXB has three terminals, and the airport's airline directory assigns carriers to each. These assignments change, so check your ticket, but the directory shows the following.

- Terminal 3 lists Emirates, Air Canada, Qantas, United Airlines and flydubai.
- Terminal 1 lists a long list of international carriers, including British Airways, Air France, KLM, Lufthansa, Swiss, Delta, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, Saudia and Singapore Airlines.
- Terminal 2 lists flydubai, Air India Express, Wizz Air and a number of regional and charter carriers.
If you are on a Toronto flight, a quick look at the airline directory is worthwhile: Air Canada appears under Terminal 3, which is the Emirates terminal. The directory also marks some carriers as operating from Dubai World Central (DWC), the second Dubai airport, as described below. Always match the airport code on your itinerary, DXB or DWC, before giving a pickup address.
You can read the full list on the airport's airlines page.
How your DXB pickup works
Give the desk your flight number, the lead passenger's name, the number of large bags and your destination. The partner tracks the flight, so an early landing or a delay does not need a phone call.

On international arrivals we include 60 minutes of free waiting after landing; on domestic arrivals, 30. After a long-haul flight, immigration and baggage reclaim can take a while, and the fare is fixed, so nobody is watching a meter.
Add a name-board meet and greet inside arrivals if you are travelling with elderly relatives, with children, or alone for the first time in the region. An alias name on the board is available on request for privacy. See the meet and greet service for how it works.
Most vehicles carry water, phone chargers and Wi-Fi. Child, toddler and booster seats are available on request at booking. Alcohol is never promised on board, and UAE law applies in the vehicle.
Dubai airport to Downtown, the Marina and the Palm: distances and times
The airport is about 15 km from Downtown Dubai. The tables below are approximate road distances and typical times, which swing widely with traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road and the Al Khail corridors. Friday and Saturday evenings and the weekday rush are the slowest windows.

| Destination | Distance | Typical drive |
|---|---|---|
| Downtown Dubai and Dubai Mall | about 15 km (9 mi) | 15 to 35 minutes |
| DIFC | about 15 km (9 mi) | 15 to 35 minutes |
| Dubai World Trade Centre | about 12 km (7.5 mi) | 15 to 30 minutes |
| Dubai Marina and JBR | about 35 km (22 mi) | 30 to 60 minutes |
| Palm Jumeirah | about 40 km (25 mi) | 35 to 65 minutes |
| Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah | about 30 km (19 mi) | 25 to 55 minutes |
| Abu Dhabi city | about 140 km (87 mi) | 1.5 to 2 hours |
The booker shows the exact all-in fare for your address and vehicle before you confirm. You do not have to work out toll charges or waiting time yourself.
For hotels, the Burj Al Arab page and the Atlantis The Royal page describe arrival logistics at two of the most photographed addresses.
DXB and Dubai World Central: two airports, one city
Dubai also has a second airport, Al Maktoum International at Dubai World Central (DWC), operated by Dubai Airports and with its own website. The DWC site lists taxi, metro, bus, car parking and rental services, and the DXB airline directory marks carriers that operate from both airports. Treat the airport code on your ticket as the final word.

DWC is a long way from Downtown: expect it to be well over half an hour by road in light traffic. The DWC and business aviation page covers the private aviation side. We do not make claims about future airport moves or changes to the airport network, because those plans are decided and announced by the authorities; check the DWC airport website for current information.
Dubai airport transfer compared with the alternatives
The airport's own transport pages list taxis, ride-hailing, the Metro, buses, parking and car rental. Here is how they compare.
| Option | Typical time to Downtown | Cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dubai Metro | Varies with the station | Lowest | Solo travellers, daytime arrivals, light luggage |
| Dubai Taxi from the terminal rank | 15 to 35 minutes | Metered | Short hops, no deadline |
| Ride-hailing (Uber, Careem, Bolt) | 15 to 35 minutes | Surge-priced at peaks | Flexible plans, tech-comfortable travellers |
| Rental car | Varies | Variable, plus parking | Experienced drivers touring beyond Dubai |
| Chauffeur via Enroutz.ca | 15 to 35 minutes | Fixed fare via booker | Late arrivals, families, executives, groups |
The airport's transport page says Dubai Taxi Company taxis are available around the clock at designated ranks in each terminal, and that Uber, Careem and Bolt operate with signed pick-up points. If you land at midday with one bag and your hotel is on the Metro line, the Metro is a sensible, lower-cost choice. A chauffeur is worth the difference when you arrive in the small hours, travel with family, carry a lot of luggage or need to be in a meeting soon after. See chauffeur vs rideshare for the longer comparison.
Business travel, trade shows and events
Dubai's calendar is event-driven, and ground transport tightens around big shows. The trade show pages cover the main ones, with dates only where confirmed:
- GITEX Global, with venue and dates on its own page.
- Arabian Travel Market.
- Dubai Airshow, where the arrival logistics differ from a DXB show.
- The health expo documented on the World Health Expo page.
For a delegation, a corporate account lets an assistant book and track every leg, with monthly invoicing: see corporate chauffeur service. Planners handling a conference should read meetings, incentives and conferences.
Cruise passengers and short stays
Cruise ships call at Dubai. The Dubai cruise terminal page covers embarkation timings, luggage and the drive between the terminal and DXB. If you are combining a flight and a cruise, the desk can chain both rides under one booking.
Courtesy, dress and what is normal in the UAE
Visiting Dubai is easy, and most visitors feel at home quickly. A few points of courtesy help.
- Dress. Beachwear is for the beach and the pool. In malls, government offices, mosques and on public transport, dress modestly, with shoulders and knees covered. Light layers help because indoor air-conditioning is strong.
- Behaviour in public. Keep voices low and displays of affection discreet. Photograph people only with their permission, and avoid photographing government and military sites.
- Alcohol and drugs. Alcohol is available only in licensed venues; do not carry it in a vehicle or consume it in public. Drug laws are strict and zero-tolerance, including for medications that are legal elsewhere: check the official guidance before travelling with prescription medicine.
- Ramadan. The month's dates move each year because the calendar is lunar. Visitors are asked to be considerate about eating, drinking and smoking in public during daylight hours, and working hours and traffic patterns change.
- Greetings. A handshake is normal in business; wait for a woman or an elder to offer a hand first, and use your right hand.
Your chauffeur will take their cue from you. Your seat, the music and the air-conditioning are yours to adjust. Chauffeurs do not photograph clients or post about trips, and NDAs are signed on request.
Entry requirements and visas
Entry rules depend on your nationality, change, and are set by the UAE government. Use official channels only: the Visit Dubai visa information page and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security point to the official application routes and warn against copies of their sites. We do not process visas and we cannot confirm requirements for your passport.
Vehicles, luggage and groups
Vehicle classes are "or similar", with the exact model confirmed at booking.
- Executive Sedan: Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Cadillac CT6 or Lyriq or similar, up to three passengers, two large and two cabin bags.
- First Class Sedan: Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series or similar, up to three, two large and two cabin bags.
- Luxury SUV: Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon Denali or similar, up to six passengers and five to six large bags.
- Executive Sprinter: up to twelve passengers and twelve bags.
- Mini-coach and coach (20 to 56 seats), Maybach, Rolls-Royce, stretch limousine and armoured vehicles on request; availability is confirmed at booking.
See the fleet page. For public figures and talent, the VIP chauffeur service page describes our discretion protocol. Enroutz.ca is a chauffeur service and not a security company: no armed drivers or bodyguards, and we work alongside a client's own security team.
The wider Gulf trip
Dubai is often one stop in a regional itinerary. The Abu Dhabi airport page covers the capital, about 140 km away, and the Middle East hub lists the other Gulf cities. The airports hub lists every airport we cover. One booking with the desk can cover several cities with one invoice; see how the worldwide network works.
Cancellation: more than 72 hours' notice has no charge; 72 hours or less is 10%; 48 hours or less is 50%; 24 hours or less or no-show is 100%, measured from the scheduled pickup time. Large events and conventions may carry a different deadline, stated on your confirmation.
Frequently asked questions
How far is Dubai airport from Downtown?
DXB is about 15 km from Downtown Dubai. The drive normally takes 15 to 35 minutes, and longer in the weekday rush or on busy evenings.
Which terminal do I use at DXB?
DXB has Terminals 1, 2 and 3, and the airport's airline directory lists the carriers for each. Emirates and Air Canada are listed under Terminal 3 at the time of writing. Confirm with your ticket.
Is Dubai World Central the same as Dubai airport?
No. Dubai World Central (DWC) is a second airport, Al Maktoum International. Check the code on your ticket: DXB or DWC. The desk needs the right one to place the chauffeur.
Does the chauffeur wait if immigration is slow?
Yes. Airport pickups are flight-tracked, and we include 60 minutes of free waiting on international arrivals. The fare is fixed at booking.
Can you meet me inside arrivals with a name board?
Yes, as an add-on, with an alias on the board on request.
How much is the transfer from DXB?
The booker shows the exact all-in fare for your address and vehicle before you confirm. We do not publish rates because the fare depends on pickup, destination and vehicle.
Is it better to take a taxi or a chauffeur?
For one or two people with light luggage and no deadline, a taxi can be the lower-cost choice. A chauffeur is better for late arrivals, groups, children and meetings.
Can I book a chauffeur by the hour in Dubai?
Yes. See hourly chauffeur service. The driver waits while you work or shop, and the desk confirms the hours at booking.
Does Enroutz.ca have an office in Dubai?
No. We are based in Toronto and the Dubai ride is delivered by a vetted local partner, booked, confirmed and invoiced by our desk.
