Atlantis The Royal transfer: from the aircraft door to Palm Jumeirah
Palm Jumeirah is one of the most recognisable shapes on the Dubai coastline, and Atlantis The Royal sits at the far end of it, on the crescent that wraps around the palm's fronds. For a traveller landing from Toronto after a flight of around 12 to 13 hours, that location has a practical consequence: the last stretch is a drive along the trunk of the palm, not a quick turn off a main road. Enroutz.ca books an Atlantis The Royal transfer with a vetted, licensed and commercially insured local chauffeur partner. The Toronto desk confirms it, invoices it and stays on call 24 hours a day.
Because we do not run our own cars in the United Arab Emirates, the ride is delivered by a partner; the booking, the confirmation and the single invoice come from Enroutz.ca. That structure matters on a trip like this one, where a family may need an Executive Sprinter for the luggage and a Luxury SUV for the children, all confirmed at once.
How long is the transfer from Dubai airport to Atlantis The Royal?

From Dubai International (DXB) it is about 40 km (25 miles) and normally 35 to 60 minutes. From Al Maktoum International (DWC) it is about 35 km (22 miles) and 30 to 50 minutes. Times depend on the hour. The booker shows the exact all-in fare for your vehicle before you confirm.
The Palm sits on the Gulf side of the city, west of the old centre. The route from DXB runs along the coast road or the main expressway, then onto the palm's trunk and out to the crescent. Dubai Airports describes DXB as having three terminals, with Terminal 3 the main base for Emirates, and the long-haul arrivals from Toronto will usually land there. See the Dubai DXB airport page for terminal-level pickup detail.
| Arrival point | Distance to the Palm crescent | Typical drive time | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dubai International (DXB) | About 40 km (25 mi) | 35–60 minutes | Slowest at the evening commute |
| Al Maktoum International (DWC) | About 35 km (22 mi) | 30–50 minutes | Dubai Airports gives DWC as about 60 km from DXB |
| Dubai Marina | About 12 km (7.5 mi) | 15–30 minutes | Short run along the coast |
| Downtown Dubai | About 35 km (22 mi) | 30–55 minutes | Sheikh Zayed Road corridor |
All figures are approximate and are meant for planning. The desk adjusts for the actual traffic on the day.
Choosing between DXB and DWC
Most visitors fly into DXB, which is the busiest of Dubai's airports and the home of most scheduled long-haul services. DWC, formally Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International, is farther out in the south of the emirate, but it is closer to the Palm than DXB is, and private jets and some cargo and charter flights use it. Dubai Airports' own page lists it separately and gives the distance between the two as about 60 km. The airport's official information is at dwc.dubaiairports.ae, and our own page is the Dubai DWC private aviation guide.
If you are connecting between DXB and DWC, Dubai Airports advises clearing passport control, collecting bags and taking a taxi or the Metro to Ibn Battuta station, then a dedicated bus to DWC. A single private car replaces that sequence. Ask the desk to quote a DXB-to-DWC leg if that is your plan.
What the airport offers before you consider a chauffeur
Honest comparison matters, so here is what is available at the airport. Dubai Airports states that Dubai Taxi Company (DTC) taxis operate around the clock from ranks in each terminal, with a starting fare of AED 25 plus distance charges, as of 2026. Uber, Careem and Bolt are available through their apps, and you follow the signs to the pickup point. The page is the Dubai Airports taxi guide.

| Option | Typical time from DXB | Cost note | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dubai Metro, then taxi | 75–110 minutes | Lowest | Light luggage, patient travellers |
| Airport taxi rank | 35–60 minutes | Metered | One or two travellers, no pre-booking |
| App-based rideshare | 35–65 minutes | Surge-priced at peaks | Quick booking on arrival |
| Hotel arranged car | 35–60 minutes | Set by the hotel | Guests who prefer the front desk to handle it |
| Enroutz.ca private chauffeur | 35–60 minutes | Fixed fare via booker | Named driver, flight tracking, families, groups |
For one traveller with a single bag and no deadline, the taxi rank is the sensible lowest-cost choice. A private chauffeur earns its place when you land after midnight, when you are travelling as a family, or when you want the fare fixed and confirmed before you leave Toronto.
A family resort changes the vehicle you need
A resort stay on the Palm often means a family trip, so luggage and car seats become part of the plan. Child, toddler and booster seats are available on request at booking; state the child's age and weight and the right seat is fitted. A family of four with four large bags fits a Luxury SUV (Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon Denali or similar), which takes up to six passengers and five or six large bags. Two families or a group of friends can use an Executive Sprinter, which seats up to 12 passengers with 12 bags. Your chauffeur partner confirms the equivalent local model.

The Executive Sedan (Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Cadillac CT6 or Lyriq or similar) is the right choice for two or three adults with two large and two cabin bags. The First Class Sedan (Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series or similar) offers more rear-seat room. Maybach, Rolls-Royce, stretch limousine and armoured vehicles are available on request. Partner vehicles are no more than four model years old, with Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Maybach up to seven, and the exact car is confirmed at booking. Wi-Fi, water and phone chargers are in most vehicles. See the fleet page.
Arrival, meet and greet and waiting time
Every airport pickup includes flight tracking. On international arrivals we include 60 minutes of free waiting after landing, and 30 minutes on domestic arrivals. For a long-haul arrival that covers the walk from the gate, passport control and baggage claim, which can take time after a large aircraft arrives.

A name-board meet-and-greet inside arrivals is an optional add-on, and an alias can be used on the board for privacy. Dubai Airports notes on its transfers page that guests can find the transfer desk by following signs, using interactive maps or asking Guest Experience Ambassadors. If you prefer to skip the hall entirely, ask the desk to confirm the exact pickup point in writing.
The Palm Jumeirah approach and the resort's own arrangements
The Palm's trunk is the main road onto the island, and the crescent beyond is reached from the trunk. Resort traffic builds up on holiday weekends and at the start and end of school breaks, so a late-afternoon arrival on a Friday or Saturday can take noticeably longer than the planning figures above. Atlantis The Royal's own team sets the arrival procedure at the hotel, including where cars may stop and how luggage is received, so tell the hotel your arrival time and give the desk the name on the reservation. Your chauffeur then drops at the point the hotel indicates and the bell team takes over.
The hotel's current opening dates, room categories and restaurant bookings are for the hotel to confirm. We do not publish them here because they change and the hotel is the only reliable source. What we can say reliably is that the island's traffic funnels towards the trunk at peak hours, so allow a little more time for the return leg to the airport than the distance suggests.
Leaving the Palm: departure timing
For a departure, a rule of thumb is to leave the Palm about four hours before an international flight from DXB, and a little earlier if you are travelling in the evening peak. The Dubai Airports taxi page notes that taxis operate around the clock, but the departures forecourt is busiest in the late evening, when most long-haul flights leave. A pre-booked car avoids joining that line. Include the flight number, the terminal and the number of bags in the booking, and the driver tracks the departure time as well as the road.
Business travel and events from the Palm
Many guests combine leisure with a conference. The big events in Dubai, including GITEX Global and Arabian Travel Market, draw heavy traffic towards the exhibition areas, and the Dubai Airshow sends demand to DWC. A corporate chauffeur service account puts every transfer on one monthly invoice, and an hourly chauffeur stays with you through a day of meetings across Dubai. For the city as a whole, see the Dubai chauffeur service page.
Discretion is part of the service. Chauffeurs do not photograph clients or post about trips, and NDAs are signed on request. Enroutz.ca is a chauffeur service, not a security company: there are no armed drivers or bodyguards, and we work alongside a client's own security team. We never promise drinks on board, and local law applies to alcohol.
Other stays and cities on the same trip
If you are splitting your trip, the Burj Al Arab page covers the other famous resort address on the Jumeirah coast, and the Emirates Palace page explains the intercity run to Abu Dhabi. The Middle East hub lists the other cities we cover, from Doha to Muscat, and the hotels hub lists other properties. For cruise connections, see the Dubai cruise port page, and for a custom itinerary, the travel desk.
Cancellations and changes
More than 72 hours' notice means no charge. At 72 hours or less the charge is 10%, at 48 hours or less 50%, and at 24 hours or less or a no-show 100%, all measured from the scheduled pickup time. Large events and conventions may carry a different deadline, stated on your confirmation. If your flight changes, the driver tracks it, and the 24/7 desk can re-time a pickup.
Frequently asked questions
How far is Atlantis The Royal from Dubai airport?
Atlantis The Royal is about 40 km (25 miles) from DXB, normally a 35 to 60 minute drive. From DWC it is about 35 km (22 miles), usually 30 to 50 minutes. Traffic and the hour decide the actual time.
How much is a private transfer to Atlantis The Royal?
The fare depends on the vehicle, the pickup and the time. Enter your pickup and the hotel in the booker and it shows the exact all-in fare before you pay. The fare is fixed once confirmed.
Which terminal will I arrive at in Dubai?
It depends on your airline. Dubai Airports lists three terminals at DXB, and says gates A, B and C in Terminal 3 are mainly used by Emirates, flydubai, United and Air Canada. Your confirmation names the pickup point.
Is a taxi less expensive than a chauffeur from DXB to the Palm?
Usually yes, for one or two travellers with light luggage. A private chauffeur is a fixed fare via booker with a named driver, flight tracking and a vehicle that fits your group and car seats.
Can I book a child seat for the transfer?
Yes. Child, toddler and booster seats are available on request at booking. Give the child's age and weight so that the right seat is fitted.
What if my flight arrives late at night?
The driver tracks your flight and waits. International arrivals include 60 minutes of free waiting after landing, and the desk is open 24/7 if anything changes.
Can you pick me up from Al Maktoum International?
Yes. The desk books DWC pickups for scheduled, charter and private flights. Give the flight number or tail number and the handler's name at booking.
Do you have your own cars in Dubai?
No. The ride is delivered by a vetted, licensed and commercially insured local partner and managed by the Enroutz.ca desk in Toronto, with one booking and one invoice.
Can the driver wait at the hotel while I check in?
Yes. On a hotel pickup the first 15 minutes of waiting are included, and longer waits can be arranged with the desk before the day.
