Chauffeur service Abu Dhabi, booked before you leave Canada
Abu Dhabi is a capital that runs on calm roads, wide boulevards and long distances between its islands. A chauffeur service in Abu Dhabi suits that character: the driver knows which causeway is moving, which gate of the venue is open to your car and where the museum drop-off is. Enroutz.ca arranges the car with driver from Toronto. The driver is a vetted, licensed and commercially insured local partner, while the Toronto desk looks after the booking, the confirmation and the invoice.
This page covers airport arrivals at Zayed International (AUH), the city, Saadiyat Island, Yas Island and the run to and from Dubai, which is roughly 140 km.
What is the best way to get from Abu Dhabi airport to the city?

Pre-book a chauffeur. Zayed International is about 31 km east of Abu Dhabi city, so the run takes 25 to 40 minutes. The fare is fixed and quoted up front, your driver tracks the flight, and the airport's 24-hour buses are the lower-cost alternative.
The airport is a single large terminal, Terminal A, which opened on 31 October 2023, and every airline was operating from it by 14 November 2023. The old terminals have closed. On 9 February 2024 the airport was renamed Zayed International Airport; it was previously Abu Dhabi International. Old guidebooks and apps may still use the earlier name and the three-letter code remains AUH.
Before you go: entry rules and official advice
Read the Government of Canada's UAE travel advice, last updated on 10 August 2026. At the time of writing it reads "Avoid non-essential travel" because of the volatile security situation in the region, and it can change quickly. The same page says Canadian citizens receive a free tourist visa on arrival, valid for 90 days within any 180-day period, and need a passport valid for six months beyond entry. Business and student visas must be arranged beforehand. Other nationalities should confirm their own rules.
The desk will tell you directly if a partner cannot cover your date or a flight change affects the pickup.
Zayed International (AUH): what to expect on arrival
With one terminal, finding your driver is easier than at Dubai. Your confirmation gives the vehicle class and the plan for meeting you before you fly. Chauffeurs track the live flight, and on international arrivals we include 60 minutes of free waiting after landing, because queues at immigration and baggage reclaim vary. Domestic arrivals include 30 minutes.

If you would like a name board inside arrivals, the add-on is described on the meet and greet page. We can put an alias on the board for privacy, which many executives and families prefer. For other airports in the region, see the airports hub and the Abu Dhabi AUH airport page.
Getting from AUH into the city: your real options

| Option | Typical time to central Abu Dhabi | Cost note | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Airport bus lines A1 and A2 (24 hours) | 45 to 70 minutes with stops | Lowest | One bag, no schedule pressure |
| Airport taxi | 25 to 40 minutes | Metered | Spontaneous arrivals with a simple destination |
| Ride-hailing app | 25 to 40 minutes plus wait | Surge-priced at peak | Confident app users with data |
| Rental car | 25 to 40 minutes plus desk | Daily rate plus fuel | Self-drive trips, long stays |
| Hotel car | 25 to 40 minutes | Added to the bill | Convenience at one hotel |
| Pre-booked chauffeur via Enroutz.ca | 25 to 40 minutes | Fixed fare via booker | Night arrivals, families, executives, VIPs |
Airport bus lines A1 and A2 run 24 hours a day to the city centre, and the E102 bus and an Etihad coach link the airport with Dubai. If you travel light and have time, the bus is the lowest-cost option and a good one. Choose the chauffeur when you arrive late, when you have luggage, children or a meeting within hours, or when you want a driver who can read your hotel's drop-off arrangements.
Distances worth knowing

| Trip | Distance | Typical drive time |
|---|---|---|
| AUH to central Abu Dhabi | about 31 km | 25 to 40 minutes |
| Abu Dhabi to Dubai city | roughly 140 km | 1 hour 30 to 2 hours |
For intercity runs the exact fare appears in the booker once you enter the two addresses. Add time at the end of the weekend and on days when major events at Yas Island or the exhibition centre release crowds. Let the desk set the pickup time around your meeting.
Dubai to Abu Dhabi, and back
Many travellers land in one emirate and work in the other. A chauffeur on the Dubai-Abu Dhabi run lets you work, call and rest on the road. If your meeting is in Abu Dhabi but your flight lands at DXB, the whole transfer can be one booking, and the same applies in reverse. For a day trip, ask the desk about a return with waiting, or an hourly chauffeur day.
For the Dubai side of the trip see our Dubai chauffeur service page and the DXB airport page.
Culture, museums and the Grand Mosque
Abu Dhabi's most-visited sights are well run but have rules your chauffeur will be glad you know about.
- Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. The official mosque centre website lists general hours of 9:00 am to 8:30 pm Saturday to Thursday, with Friday visits split into 9:00 to 11:30 am and 2:30 to 8:30 pm. Visitors pre-book an online access pass, and the cultural tours are described as complimentary. Dress modestly and follow the guidance on that site; it governs entry, not us.
- Saadiyat Island. Visit Abu Dhabi's official tourism site features the Zayed National Museum, the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, Qasr Al Watan, Al Ain Oasis and the Saadiyat Cultural District. Opening status of newer museums changes, so confirm dates before you plan a visit.
- Dress and behaviour. The Government of Canada notes that women are not required to cover their heads in the UAE, but revealing clothing is considered inappropriate and public displays of affection can draw attention. Photographing people needs permission; drones require authorisation.
Alcohol is allowed in private homes and licensed venues only. We never promise drinks on board.
An island capital: how the districts connect
Abu Dhabi city sits on an island joined to the mainland by bridges, and its best-known districts are separate islands too. The city centre and the Corniche lie on the main island; Al Maryah Island, home to the financial free zone, is a short hop away; Saadiyat Island holds the museums and beach resorts; Yas Island holds the circuit, the arena and the theme parks. Each connects by bridge or causeway, so a ten-minute map distance can become a thirty-minute drive when one crossing slows.
That is where local knowledge matters. A chauffeur who drives these crossings every day knows which bridge to take at the school run, which hotel entrance has the shaded drop-off, and where to stage a car during a long meeting. The desk shares your itinerary with the partner in advance, so the driver arrives with the sequence of stops rather than discovering it as you go.
The local week, Ramadan and the rules of the road
The UAE has had a Saturday and Sunday weekend since 1 January 2022, and government offices run a shorter Friday. During Ramadan, expected to begin around 7 to 8 February 2027, the Government of Canada advises visitors not to eat, drink or smoke in public between sunrise and sunset; restaurants in Abu Dhabi stay open and most government offices keep reduced hours. Plan meetings earlier in the day and expect busier roads around sunset.
The legal blood-alcohol limit for drivers is zero, and the Government of Canada warns that penalties include heavy fines, jail and vehicle confiscation. If you plan an evening out, a booked chauffeur removes the question completely. Our Middle East hub explains the dress, photography and Ramadan etiquette across the Gulf in more detail.
Business, ADNEC and the events calendar
ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi is the capital's exhibition and conference complex, and the ADNEC website lists its programme. In October 2026 it shows events such as the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit (20 to 22 October) and the Forbes Middle East Sustainability Leaders Summit (19 to 20 October). For delegations, we recommend a named dispatcher at the desk, a fixed loop between hotel and venue, and a spare vehicle. Organisers can read about meetings, incentives and conferences transport, and finance teams about corporate accounts. Wider calendars sit on the trade shows hub and the events hub.
Yas Island and the Formula 1 weekend
Yas Island is home to Yas Marina Circuit and sits near the airport side of the city. The official Formula 1 calendar for 2026 lists Abu Dhabi as the final round, 4 to 6 December 2026, at Yas Marina; check formula1.com for any change. On race weekends roads feeding the island are managed by the organisers, and hotels fill. Book your chauffeur early, share the ticket gate, and ask the desk for the best drop-off point. For event-style bookings, see our event transportation page.
Flying from Toronto to Abu Dhabi, and arriving in Toronto from Abu Dhabi
If you are flying from Toronto to Abu Dhabi, an Enroutz.ca vehicle can take you to Pearson, and the Abu Dhabi chauffeur is added to the same booking. The Toronto side of the journey is on the Pearson airport page.
If you are arriving in Toronto from Abu Dhabi, the desk tracks your flight and the Toronto fleet waits at Pearson, 60 minutes free after landing on an international arrival. Visitors new to Canada can read the Toronto airport transfer guide and the travelling to Toronto page. For a hotel in the capital, see Emirates Palace.
Vehicles for the capital
Abu Dhabi suits the larger classes, because many visitors arrive as families or delegations with real luggage. For two or three people, the Executive Sedan (a Mercedes-Benz E-Class or similar) or the First Class Sedan (S-Class, BMW 7 Series or similar) offers three seats, two large bags and two cabin bags. The Luxury SUV, a Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban or GMC Yukon Denali or similar, takes six passengers with five to six large bags. The Executive Sprinter carries up to twelve people and twelve bags, and 20 to 56 seat coaches are available on request for exhibition shuttles.
For a formal arrival, a Maybach, Rolls-Royce or stretch limousine can be requested, with availability confirmed at booking. The exact model in every class is confirmed when you book. Partner vehicles are at most four model years old, and seven for Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Maybach. Most cars have Wi-Fi, water and chargers, and child seats of every size can be requested in advance.
Discretion is standard: drivers do not photograph passengers or post about a journey, and NDAs are available. See the VIP chauffeur page, the fleet page and the Middle East hub for the wider region.
Frequently asked questions
How far is Abu Dhabi airport from the city?
Zayed International Airport is about 31 km east of Abu Dhabi city, typically 25 to 40 minutes by road. The fare shown in the booker is fixed for your hotel or address and quoted before you pay.
Is Abu Dhabi airport the same as Zayed International?
Yes. Abu Dhabi International Airport was renamed Zayed International Airport on 9 February 2024. The IATA code is AUH, and all airlines operate from the single Terminal A, which opened in October 2023.
How far is it from Dubai to Abu Dhabi by car?
About 140 km between the two cities, usually 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on traffic and exact addresses. Enter both addresses in the booker for an exact fare.
Can women travel alone with a chauffeur in Abu Dhabi?
Yes. A woman travelling alone can book and ride with a licensed chauffeur. Modest dress is advised in public, and the Government of Canada notes women are not required to cover their heads.
Do you provide a name board at arrivals?
Yes, as an add-on. A chauffeur meets you inside arrivals with a name board, or an alias for privacy on request. Without it, the driver contacts you as you clear the terminal.
How long will the driver wait?
Free waiting after landing is 60 minutes on international arrivals, 30 on domestic ones and 15 on other pickups. Flights are tracked, so a delay moves the pickup automatically.
Can I visit the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque with a chauffeur?
Yes. The driver takes you to the visitor entrance and collects you afterwards. Visitors pre-book an online access pass through the mosque's official site, and the dress guidance there applies. Friday visiting is split into two windows, so plan the pickup around them.
Is it safe to travel to the UAE right now?
Check the Government of Canada's live advice, which at the time of writing is "Avoid non-essential travel" for the UAE. We will flag any operational change affecting your booking.
