How do you get around Miami during Art Basel?
Pre-book the airport legs and any evening where being late costs you. Miami International is about 17 km from the Miami Beach Convention Center, 25 to 45 minutes in normal traffic and much longer in Art Week. A private car waits at your door, and the fare is quoted before you pay.
For one week in December, the narrow island of Miami Beach and the causeways that connect it to the mainland carry a different kind of traffic: collectors, gallerists, curators, advisers, artists and the people who accompany them. They move between the convention centre, galleries in other districts, hotels, dinners and private parties that last until the early hours. A well-built Art Basel Miami Beach transportation plan treats the week as a sequence of fixed points and leaves the in-between to someone who knows the roads.
Enroutz.ca is a Toronto-based chauffeur service. In Miami, the ride is delivered by a vetted, licensed and commercially insured US chauffeur partner, because Canadian vehicles cannot do domestic point-to-point work in the United States. The Enroutz.ca desk books, confirms and invoices it. You receive one confirmation, one invoice and one point of contact, available around the clock. Partner vehicles are no more than four model years old, and Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Maybach up to seven.
Art Basel Miami Beach 2026: dates and venue
Art Basel's website, artbasel.com, lists the Miami Beach edition for 4 to 6 December 2026. The page we checked did not separate preview days from public days, so confirm your own entry day against your ticket or invitation before you set a pickup time.

The fair is held at the Miami Beach Convention Center, 1901 Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach, Florida 33139, according to the centre's own site, miamibeachconvention.com. The Art Basel page lists only "Miami Beach" as the location, so check the venue and entrance on your ticket. If anything changes, the chauffeur follows the address on your confirmation.
Distances you can plan with
These figures are planning estimates. Real times depend on the hour, the day and Art Week traffic:

- Miami International Airport (MIA) to the convention centre: about 17 km (11 miles), usually 25 to 45 minutes.
- Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International (FLL) to the convention centre: about 35 km (22 miles), usually 40 to 70 minutes.
- Opa-locka Executive Airport (OPF) to the convention centre: about 25 km (16 miles), usually 30 to 50 minutes.
- PortMiami to the convention centre: about 8 km (5 miles), usually 15 to 30 minutes.
- Brickell and downtown Miami to the convention centre: about 10 km (6 miles), usually 20 to 40 minutes.
- Wynwood and the Design District to the convention centre: about 10 to 12 km (6 to 7 miles), usually 20 to 40 minutes.
On the Beach itself, distances are short, but the streets are narrow, parking is scarce and one-way systems are strict. A 3 km trip along Collins Avenue can take longer than a 10 km trip on the highway. The booker shows the exact fare for your pickup and vehicle before you confirm.
Landing at MIA, FLL or a private terminal
Most visitors land at Miami International; our MIA airport page explains concourses and pickup procedures, and the airport's own site, miami-airport.com, carries live terminal maps and its ground-transport listings, including taxis, shuttles, the Metrorail connection and the rental car centre. FLL is a useful alternative when its schedule suits you better, and the Port Everglades cruise page shows the Fort Lauderdale side. Guests on private aircraft often use Opa-locka or another business-aviation terminal; see the Miami Opa-locka page for how that is handled.

With Enroutz.ca:
- Your flight is tracked, so a late arrival moves the pickup automatically.
- International arrivals receive 60 minutes of free waiting after landing; domestic, 30.
- The chauffeur messages you before you land with the vehicle and the meeting point.
- A name-board meet and greet inside arrivals is available as an add-on, with an alias name on the board for privacy.
- Wi-Fi, water and phone chargers are in most vehicles.
Toronto and Miami are in the same time zone in December, and the flight takes about three hours, so many Toronto collectors arrive in the morning and go straight to a first appointment. A car with your luggage handled by the chauffeur makes that possible. Canadian citizens need a valid passport for entry to the United States; other nationalities should check the current US entry rules with their airline before departure.
What are your options, honestly?

| Option | Typical experience in Art Week | Cost note | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Public bus | Frequent on main routes but slow in traffic | Lowest | Short trips along the Beach |
| Taxi | Queues at the airport and convention centre | Metered | Short, unplanned trips |
| Rideshare | Surge periods around closing time and late evening | Surge-priced | Flexible trips when a wait is acceptable |
| Hotel or fair shuttle | Fixed routes and timetables; check with your hotel | Sometimes included | Commuting between a partner hotel and the fair |
| Rental car | Parking is scarce and tightly managed on the Beach | Daily rate plus parking | Guests staying off the island |
| Private chauffeur | Door to door, no queue, flexible stops | Fixed fare via booker | Fixed schedules, VIPs, dinners, late returns |
If you are staying within walking distance of the fair, walk. If you are on a single trip from the airport, the chauffeur's advantage is certainty and luggage handling. For a collector with six appointments across three districts, the chauffeur is the only practical choice.
The causeways and the Beach
Miami Beach is an island, and everything on it reaches the mainland by causeway. The MacArthur Causeway links downtown Miami and the port area to South Beach, and the Julia Tuttle Causeway (I-195) links Midtown and Wynwood to mid-Beach. Other causeways serve the north and the Venetian Islands. When one is slow, a good chauffeur chooses another.
Practical advice from a dispatcher's point of view:
- Cross the water earlier than you think you need to. Afternoon returns to the mainland run at the same time as the fair closes.
- For the evening, schedule one pickup that covers the entire evening instead of separate rides. A waiting chauffeur never has to find you in a crowd.
- If you are leaving the Beach after midnight, pre-book the return. The island has fewer cars available than the demand.
Collectors, galleries and advisers
Art Week is a series of private views, previews, gallery openings and dinners. Collectors and their advisers usually travel with a plan that changes during the day. Our hourly service suits that rhythm, because the chauffeur stays with you, waits at each stop and adjusts to the next address. See hourly chauffeur service.
The works themselves do not travel in a chauffeur vehicle. Art shipments go through specialist handlers and the fair's logistics. What we move is the people, the paperwork and the personal items, on time and with discretion. Chauffeurs do not photograph clients or post about trips, and NDAs are signed on request.
Artists, talent and high-profile guests
Art Basel Miami Beach draws public figures and performers as well as the art trade. Enroutz.ca offers a booking under an alias, unbranded vehicles and a chauffeur who does not discuss who he or she has driven. A First Class Sedan (Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series or similar) carries up to three passengers with two large and two cabin bags; a Luxury SUV (Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon Denali or similar) carries up to six with five to six large bags. Maybach, Rolls-Royce and stretch limousine are available on request, with availability confirmed at booking.
Where a principal travels with a security team, the chauffeur works alongside it. Enroutz.ca is a chauffeur service and not a security company, and it does not supply bodyguards or armed drivers. See VIP and celebrity chauffeur for the discretion protocol in full.
Evenings: parties, dinners and the late return
Many of the week's most important conversations take place after the fair closes. Dinners at restaurants in Brickell, Wynwood and the Design District are followed by parties on the Beach, on yachts and in private houses. Give the dispatcher the full list of addresses with times, and the chauffeur plans the order and the gaps. Local law applies to alcohol, and no drinks are promised on board.
For large events and conventions, the cancellation deadline can differ from our standard policy. Any difference is stated on your confirmation.
Hotels on Miami Beach
Many Art Week guests stay on the Beach, close to the fair. One example is covered on our Fontainebleau Miami Beach page, which describes the arrival on Collins Avenue and the airport times. Guests who stay on the mainland, in Brickell or Wynwood, should allow for the causeway crossing in both directions. The Miami car service page covers the city when Art Week is not on.
Groups, galleries and teams
Gallery teams travel together and carry bags with clothing and paperwork. An Executive Sprinter carries up to twelve with twelve bags. Mini-coaches and coaches (20 to 56 seats) are available on request, with availability confirmed at booking. See group transportation and event transportation. A company with several travellers can set up a corporate account with monthly invoicing, and the USA hub lists every US city we cover. The events hub lists the other events.
How booking works
Open the booker, enter any pickup in the world, and add the destination, date and time. The desk confirms a fixed quote for the exact addresses and vehicle before you pay. Vehicle classes are "or similar", and the model is confirmed at booking. Child, toddler and booster seats are available on request.
Cancellation: more than 72 hours' notice, no charge; 72 hours or less, 10%; 48 hours or less, 50%; 24 hours or less or no-show, 100%, measured from the scheduled pickup time. Large events and conventions may carry a different deadline, stated on the confirmation. Our worldwide chauffeur network page explains how partner standards are set.
Frequently asked questions
When is Art Basel Miami Beach 2026?
Art Basel lists it for 4 to 6 December 2026 in Miami Beach. The page we checked did not separate preview days from public days, so confirm your entry day on your ticket.
Where is Art Basel Miami Beach held?
At the Miami Beach Convention Center, 1901 Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach, according to the centre's website. Check the venue and entrance on your ticket before you give an address to a driver.
How far is the convention centre from Miami airport?
About 17 km (11 miles) from MIA. The drive usually takes 25 to 45 minutes in normal traffic and can take much longer during Art Week.
Is a chauffeur better than a rideshare during Art Week?
For fixed schedules and late returns, yes: the car is waiting and the fare is quoted in advance. For one short trip when a wait is acceptable, a rideshare or taxi works. Surge periods around closing time are the main problem.
Can the chauffeur stay with me through the evening?
Yes. Book by the hour and the same chauffeur stays with you for the evening, waits outside each stop and drives you to the next. A one-way transfer includes 15 minutes of waiting on non-airport pickups.
Can you collect me from a private jet?
Yes. The chauffeur meets you at the terminal. Give the desk the airport, the operator and the tail number if you have it, and the chauffeur confirms the meeting point with the handling agent.
Can I book under an alias?
Yes. Bookings and meet-and-greet boards can carry an alias, and chauffeurs do not photograph clients or post about trips. NDAs are signed on request.
Which vehicle suits a gallery team?
Up to six people with five to six large bags fit a Luxury SUV. Up to twelve with twelve bags fit an Executive Sprinter. Larger teams can ask for a mini-coach.
Do you own cars in Miami?
No. In Miami the ride is delivered by a vetted, licensed, commercially insured US partner and is booked, confirmed and invoiced by the Enroutz.ca desk in Toronto.
