A Gatwick chauffeur for the south of England
Gatwick sits about 45 km (28 mi) south of central London, just beyond the M25, and it faces a different direction from Heathrow. Where Heathrow looks west toward Windsor and Oxford, Gatwick looks south toward Brighton, the Sussex coast and the Kent countryside. If your hotel is in Surrey, your meeting is in Crawley or Horsham, or your destination is a country-house wedding in the Weald, Gatwick is the sensible airport and a Gatwick chauffeur is often the sensible way to continue.
Our chauffeur desk is in Toronto. In Britain the ride is delivered by a vetted, licensed and commercially insured local chauffeur partner. The booking, the confirmation and the invoice stay with our desk, so you deal with one team before, during and after the ride. We do not own cars or offices in the United Kingdom. Partner cars are at most four model years old; Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Maybach may be up to seven.
Enter the flight, the destination and your party size in the online booker. It displays the exact all-in fare for that route and vehicle before you pay.
Gatwick chauffeur or Heathrow chauffeur: which airport are you using?

Use the airport your ticket says. If you are choosing, Gatwick suits Sussex, Surrey, Kent and the south coast, and has quick trains to central London. Heathrow suits west London, Windsor and Oxford. A chauffeur from either airport costs a fixed fare quoted in the booker.
Many transatlantic travellers do not choose; the airline chooses for them. If you are flexible, compare the destination, not the fare. A client in Canary Wharf might favour Heathrow and the Elizabeth line, while a traveller bound for Brighton would be foolish to arrive at Heathrow. Our Heathrow chauffeur page describes the west-side trip in detail, and our London chauffeur service overview covers the city.
North Terminal and South Terminal: finding your chauffeur
Gatwick has two passenger terminals, North and South, and an inter-terminal shuttle links them. Your flight determines which one you use, and the desk reads that from the flight number and tells the chauffeur. If the airline changes terminals on the day, the chauffeur is told.

For a smooth arrival, there are two approaches. You can walk through arrivals and follow the message with the meeting point that the desk sends. Or, for a small supplement, the chauffeur can meet you with a name board in the arrivals hall and take you to the car. See our meet and greet service page. An alias name can be used on the board if you prefer privacy.
We do not print a pick-up kerb or car-park name here because we could not confirm Gatwick's pick-up rules from the airport's own pages; your confirmation has the current instruction.
The Gatwick drop-off charge, in plain terms
Gatwick charges for using its drop-off zones. The airport's website says the charge stands at a minimum of £10 (as of 2026), and that you have until midnight the day after you use the zones to pay. That matters if a friend drops you off at the terminal. For a pre-booked ride the fare in the booker is all-in, so there is no airport fee to settle at the car.

Check the airport's pages at gatwickairport.com before travelling if you plan to be dropped off by a relative: the charge, the payment method and the deadline are all stated there.
Entry to the United Kingdom
Most visitors need either an Electronic Travel Authorisation or a visa, according to the UK government. Canadian citizens usually need an ETA rather than a visa, depending on the reason for travel, and every traveller, including children, needs one of their own. Use the official GOV.UK ETA service and apply well before you travel.
If you land on an international arrival, our free waiting period is 60 minutes after landing. If your flight is delayed, the chauffeur's start time moves with it at no cost.
Distances from Gatwick
| Destination | Distance | Typical drive time |
|---|---|---|
| Central London (Victoria, Mayfair) | about 45 km (28 mi) | 60 to 100 minutes |
| Brighton | about 45 km (28 mi) | 45 to 75 minutes |
| Heathrow Airport | about 70 km (43 mi) | 60 to 100 minutes |
| Canary Wharf | about 55 km (34 mi) | 70 to 110 minutes |
The M23 and M25 are the main routes north and west, and the A23 or A27 serve Brighton and the coast. The M25 is a busy motorway at almost any hour, and the junction between the M23 and the M25 is a well-known bottleneck. A driver who uses these roads every day picks up warning of incidents earlier than any app can. That is a quiet but important reason to pre-book.
Gatwick to central London: train or chauffeur?
Gatwick's strongest card is its rail connection. The airport's website says it is connected directly to over 120 train stations, with Gatwick Express, Great Western Railway, Southern and Thameslink named as operators, and describes London as just 30 minutes away by train. That is a genuine advantage over most airports.

| Option | Typical time to Victoria or Mayfair | Cost note | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Train (Gatwick Express, Southern, Thameslink) | about 30 to 45 minutes | Lowest to mid-range | Solo or light-luggage travellers; destinations near stations |
| Pre-booked chauffeur | 60 to 100 minutes door to door | Fixed fare via booker | Families, heavy luggage, late arrivals, hotels away from stations |
| Official airport taxi | 60 to 100 minutes | Metered | Spontaneous travel |
| Ride-hail app | 60 to 100 minutes plus waiting | Surge-priced | Short notice |
| Rental car | Similar, plus parking | Central London parking is costly | Touring the south |
The train wins for central London in most cases, and we say so openly. The chauffeur wins when your destination is not near a station: a country house in the Weald, a business park in Crawley, a school in Surrey, or a hotel in Mayfair when you are carrying four large cases. The airport lists Airport Cars Gatwick as its official taxi partner, operating from both terminals; Gatwick's pages do not give fares, and we do not quote them.
Brighton, the coast and Sussex
Brighton is about 45 km (28 mi) from Gatwick, a drive of roughly 45 to 75 minutes, and it is the most common non-London destination. Conference delegates, wedding guests and festival visitors all use it. Further along the coast, destinations such as Eastbourne and Lewes are within comfortable reach. For a wedding party, ask the desk about arranging several vehicles under a single reference; our wedding chauffeur page describes it.
Hotels in Brighton have narrow approach streets near the seafront, and chauffeurs who know the one-way system save you time. Tell the desk your hotel and any special access arrangements, and we pass them to the partner.
Business travel through Gatwick
Gatwick is popular with low-cost and leisure airlines, but it is also the airport for many companies in Crawley, Horsham, Redhill and the Surrey business parks. If you are moving a team, think about the group: an Executive Sprinter carries up to 12 passengers and 12 bags, which suits delegations. Corporate accounts allow monthly invoicing and cost-centre references, and our corporate chauffeur service page explains how an assistant books for the principal.
For conferences and incentive groups, the page on meetings, incentives and conferences describes dispatch on site.
Vehicles at Gatwick
- Two or three travellers: Executive Sedan (Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Cadillac CT6 or Lyriq or similar), with room for two large and two cabin bags.
- Three travellers who want the best ride: First Class Sedan (Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series or similar), with the same bag allowance.
- Families and small teams: Luxury SUV (Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon Denali or similar), carrying up to six people and five to six large bags.
- Wedding parties and delegations: Executive Sprinter (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter), carrying up to twelve people and twelve bags.
For something grander, ask about a Maybach, a Rolls-Royce, a stretch limousine or an armoured vehicle; whether one is free for your date is confirmed at booking. A mini-coach or coach of 20 to 56 seats can be requested for larger groups. Every class is "or similar" and the exact model is confirmed when you book. More on the fleet page.
London's low-emission zone and the route into the city
Gatwick is outside London, but a ride into central London enters the Ultra Low Emission Zone. Transport for London says the zone covers all boroughs, runs 24 hours a day except Christmas Day, and charges £12.50 a day for non-compliant vehicles (as of 2026). Details are on TfL's ULEZ page. Partner vehicles are no more than four model years old and are generally compliant. As a passenger, you do not need to do anything.
Early departures, late landings and weekend engineering works
Gatwick runs many early-morning departures, which means a pickup at your hotel at three or four in the morning. Trains do not always run at those hours, and a chauffeur is often the only practical option. Tell the desk the time you must be at the terminal and the airline, and we work backwards, allowing for check-in and security. The same applies in reverse for late landings: if your flight arrives close to midnight, the rail timetable may no longer help you, and a booked car with a tracked flight takes the pressure off.
Railway engineering works are common on UK weekends and can close lines to or from the airport for hours at a time. If you are planning a Saturday or Sunday journey and prefer the train, check the operator's notices before you set out. If works are affecting your route, a chauffeur is a reliable fallback, and the desk can switch your booking from a train plan to a car plan with enough notice.
Waiting time, delay and cancellation
Tracking your flight is part of every airport pickup. If your flight lands late, the pickup moves with it. After landing you receive 60 minutes of free waiting on international arrivals, 30 minutes on domestic arrivals, and 15 minutes on other pickups. Cancellations are measured from the scheduled pickup time: no charge with more than 72 hours' notice; 10 percent at 72 hours or less; 50 percent at 48 hours or less; 100 percent at 24 hours or less or for a no-show.
Child, toddler and booster seats can be requested at booking; please give ages and weights. Most vehicles carry Wi-Fi, water and phone chargers. Our chauffeurs never photograph clients or post about a trip; NDAs are available on request. We cannot promise alcohol on board. Enroutz.ca is a chauffeur service and not a security company, so we do not provide armed drivers or bodyguards.
Going on from Gatwick
Travellers who land at Gatwick often continue to the Continent. Compare our Paris CDG chauffeur page, the Frankfurt chauffeur page and the main Europe hub. Our airports directory lists every gateway we cover.
Frequently asked questions
Is Gatwick a good airport for London?
It is convenient for the south of England and has fast trains to central London. If your destination is in west London, Windsor or Oxford, Heathrow is closer.
How far is Gatwick from central London?
About 45 km (28 mi). The train takes around 30 minutes according to the airport, and a car typically takes 60 to 100 minutes depending on traffic.
Is there a drop-off charge at Gatwick?
Yes. The airport's website says the charge stands at a minimum of £10 (as of 2026) and must be paid by midnight the day after use. The fare you see in our booker is all-in, so there is nothing extra to pay at the car.
Which terminal does my flight use?
Gatwick has a North Terminal and a South Terminal. Your airline decides, and your flight number tells us on the day.
Do I need an ETA to visit the UK from Canada?
Canadians normally need an ETA instead of a visa, GOV.UK says. Each traveller, including children, needs one.
Can a chauffeur take me from Gatwick to Brighton?
Yes. Brighton is about 45 km (28 mi) away, typically 45 to 75 minutes. The booker quotes a fixed fare.
How long will the chauffeur wait?
On international arrivals, 60 minutes free after landing; on domestic arrivals, 30 minutes. Flights are tracked, so a delay moves the pickup.
How much does a Gatwick chauffeur cost?
We do not publish rates. The online booker shows the exact all-in fare for your address and vehicle before payment.
Can I book from outside the UK?
Yes. The Toronto desk books and invoices the ride, and a licensed partner delivers it. Enter any pickup worldwide in the booker.
