Jeddah is Saudi Arabia's Red Sea port city and the main air gateway to the western region of the Kingdom. King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) lies north of the city, so most journeys into town are long enough that the car matters. A pre-booked Jeddah airport transfer gives you a named driver, a tracked flight and a fixed fare quoted before you book. This page also explains what is, and is not, open to non-Muslim visitors around Makkah, because that question arises on almost every Jeddah itinerary.
What is the best Jeddah airport transfer from JED?
For most business and leisure visitors with luggage, a pre-booked chauffeur is the most predictable Jeddah airport transfer: a named driver, flight tracking and a fixed fare quoted before you pay. Central Jeddah is roughly 30 to 50 km from JED, depending on the district.
Enroutz.ca is a Toronto-based black car and chauffeur service. In Saudi Arabia the ride is delivered by a vetted, licensed and commercially insured local chauffeur partner and is booked, confirmed and invoiced by the Enroutz.ca desk: one booking, one confirmation, one invoice and one point of contact around the clock. Partner vehicles are no more than four model years old, and Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Maybach are accepted up to seven. We do not own vehicles or offices in the Kingdom.
This page is written for the traveller flying into Jeddah from North America or Europe for business, a conference, a Red Sea holiday or a stopover. It is not a pilgrimage service: travellers performing Hajj or Umrah should rely on the arrangements made by their licensed pilgrimage operator. For the wider city, see the Jeddah chauffeur service page.
The airport and its terminals
Jeddah's airport handles a very large seasonal flow of pilgrims, and its facilities reflect that, with separate arrangements for pilgrim flights alongside the buildings used by scheduled passengers. The terminal an airline uses depends on the carrier and can change. We do not list which airline uses which building, since a mistake would send a chauffeur to the wrong door. Check your e-ticket or your airline's confirmation for the terminal and forward it to the desk with your flight number. Every airport pickup is flight-tracked, so the partner sees the terminal on the day.

If your flight lands during the Hajj season or the busiest Umrah weeks, expect more crowding in arrivals and slower immigration. Build in an extra margin and tell the desk the full flight details; the partner adjusts to the actual landing time.
How the pickup works
Give the desk your flight number, passenger names, number of large bags and your destination. The partner tracks the flight and adjusts for early and late landings.
On international arrivals we include 60 minutes of free waiting after landing; on domestic arrivals, 30. Because pilgrim traffic can lengthen queues at certain times of year, the 60 minutes is useful, and the fare stays the same because it was fixed at booking.
A name-board meet and greet inside arrivals is available as an add-on, with an alias on the board on request. If you are travelling with older relatives or small children, it makes the first half hour much easier; see the meet and greet service.
Water, phone chargers and Wi-Fi are in most vehicles. Child, toddler and booster seats are available on request at booking. Alcohol is prohibited by law in Saudi Arabia, and it is neither carried nor served in the vehicle.
Jeddah airport to the city: distances and times
Distances are approximate road figures and times assume normal traffic. Jeddah is a long, linear city along the coast, so the same airport can be close to one hotel and far from another.

| Destination | Distance | Typical drive |
|---|---|---|
| North Jeddah and the northern Corniche | about 30 km (19 mi) | 30 to 55 minutes |
| Central Jeddah hotels | about 35 to 45 km (22 to 28 mi) | 40 to 70 minutes |
| Al-Balad, the old town | about 40 to 50 km (25 to 31 mi) | 45 to 80 minutes |
| Riyadh, by road | about 950 km (590 mi) | 9 to 11 hours |
For Riyadh, a flight is the sensible choice, and the Riyadh airport page covers that end. The booker shows the exact all-in fare for your address and vehicle before you confirm. The drive is longest in the weekday rush and on weekend evenings, when the Corniche is busy.
Al-Balad, the Corniche and the Red Sea
Visitors who are not on business usually want three things: the old town of Al-Balad, the waterfront Corniche and a Red Sea beach or marina. Al-Balad is the historic district, and its narrow lanes and old merchant houses are best seen on foot, with the car waiting at the edge. The Corniche is the long coastal promenade with sculptures, cafés and sea views, and the evening is its busy time.
The official Visit Saudi page for Jeddah is titled "Discover Jeddah: Coastal Experiences & Top Attractions" and is a useful starting point for what is open and what is seasonal. Heat and humidity are real from late spring to early autumn, so schedule outdoor visits for the morning or evening and ask for the vehicle to be cooled before you board.
Makkah and Madinah: what visitors need to know
Makkah and Madinah are the two holiest cities in Islam, and Jeddah is the closest major airport to both. Travel to Makkah is restricted to Muslims. A non-Muslim visitor cannot enter Makkah, and highway signs and checkpoints direct non-Muslim traffic away from it. Please treat this as a hard rule and plan your itinerary around it. Rules around Madinah are specific to particular zones; check the official Visit Saudi website and your embassy's guidance for the current position before planning any trip beyond Jeddah.

If your plan is to perform Umrah or Hajj, your licensed pilgrimage operator organises transport for those journeys. We state this plainly because accuracy matters more than winning a booking.
Jeddah airport transfer compared with the alternatives

| Option | Typical time to central Jeddah | Cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Airport taxi | 40 to 70 minutes | Metered or agreed at the rank | Short stays, no pre-booking |
| Ride-hailing | 40 to 70 minutes | Surge-priced at peaks | Flexible plans, local data |
| Hotel car | 40 to 70 minutes | Quoted by the hotel | Convenience on a package stay |
| Rental car | Varies | Variable, plus parking and fuel | Experienced drivers who want to tour the coast |
| Chauffeur via Enroutz.ca | 40 to 70 minutes | Fixed fare via booker | First-time visitors, groups, executives, late arrivals |
If you are a regular visitor with local data and a trusted app, ride-hailing can be fine for a light-luggage trip in daytime hours. A chauffeur is better when you land late, travel with family, are new to the city or have a meeting soon after landing. See chauffeur vs rideshare for the longer comparison.
Events, motorsport and business travel
Jeddah hosts Formula 1: the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix website describes the 2027 race as taking place in Jeddah, though it does not give a date on the page we checked, and we do not publish dates until the organisers confirm them. For race week, ask the desk about road closures near the Corniche and plan drop-offs in advance. See the official Saudi Arabian Grand Prix website for the calendar.
For business travel, corporate clients can open a corporate chauffeur account for monthly invoicing, and planners moving delegations should read about meetings, incentives and conferences and group transportation. An Executive Sprinter carries up to twelve passengers and twelve bags.
For senior figures and public-facing clients, the VIP chauffeur service describes our discretion protocol: alias bookings, NDAs on request, and chauffeurs who do not photograph clients or post about trips. Enroutz.ca is a chauffeur service and not a security company, with no armed drivers and no bodyguards. We work alongside a client's own security team.
Courtesy and custom in Jeddah
The same principles of courtesy apply in Jeddah as elsewhere in Saudi Arabia.
- Dress. Wear modest, loose-fitting clothing that covers shoulders and knees. Check the official guidance for visitors before you pack.
- Women travelling. Women travel and work independently in the Kingdom, including as passengers in chauffeur-driven cars.
- Alcohol. Alcohol is prohibited by law. Do not bring it into the country.
- Prayer times. Shops and some services pause briefly at prayer times. Schedule handovers around them.
- Ramadan. The month moves each year with the lunar calendar. Do not eat, drink or smoke in public during daylight hours.
- Photography. Ask before photographing people, especially women and families. Do not photograph government buildings, security personnel or military sites.
- Greetings. A handshake is customary in business. Wait for the other person to offer, and use your right hand.
Your chauffeur follows your lead on conversation, music and temperature.
Entry rules
Entry requirements for business, tourism and other purposes are set by the Saudi government and change from time to time. Use the official Visit Saudi website and your airline for current rules for your passport. We do not process visas, and we cannot confirm requirements for your nationality.

The wider Gulf itinerary
Jeddah often sits next to Riyadh, Bahrain or Doha on a regional itinerary. The Bahrain airport page and the Doha Hamad page cover two neighbours, the Middle East hub lists the rest, and the airports hub lists every airport we cover. One desk handles every leg with a single invoice; see how the worldwide network works.
Cancellation: more than 72 hours' notice has no charge; 72 hours or less is 10%; 48 hours or less is 50%; 24 hours or less or no-show is 100%, measured from the scheduled pickup time. Large events and conventions may carry a different deadline, stated on your confirmation.
